What a great place! Simple menu: I like that all sandwiches are the same price. Service was prompt. Atmosphere was cozy. The soup was a good portion and was delicious. We will go again!

I’ve been to the Yellow Canoe several times over the last few years and it’s always a pleasure to eat there. The food is fresh and delicious with new daily specials. There is usually a dairy free/vegan soup option and they have gluten free bread. The desserts are also great. The place is small indoors, so if you want to guarantee a table I recommend booking ahead. They also have a patio during warmer weather.

Dietary restrictions: Dairy and gluten free options available

Parking: The street parking in front of the restaurant can be busy during peak season (summer) or events in the village. There is a small lot near the Rideau Lock for additional parking and street parking just a block away offers more space with a short walk

I had the cinnamon scone and the Persian tea and the vegan soup. Everything was really good but I was not actually a fan of the soup. It was too bland but man oh man were those scones good and super filling! I would go back for sure!

Reserved ahead for a lunchtime. Atmosphere always good. We all ordered soup with side dish. Cream of corn tasteless and pea soup was grainy and the same. Scones and sandwiches were very good. First time I have been disappointed with the soups!

Great little gem in Merrickville! The hot apple cider was such a treat. We got 2 different soups which were both fantastic. My husband loved his apple and cheddar soup and said it was unique but so tasty. Paired well with an eggplant sandwich and their own home made focaccia. The butter was amazing on the focaccia as well. Highly recommend visiting here if you have a chance.

This used to be a great establishment before it was bought by new owners. The food was always good, and the service was as well. The last few times I've been, the old woman that sells goods has made me and others feel unwelcome. My wife didn't even want to go in because of her own experience the last time she went in. Rude and unwelcoming, the old woman made a big deal about the 4 scones my wife ordered. Charged her around 25$ for the 4 scones. They were alright. Not amazing. Definitely not worth the price or the attitude. Won't be back, and I used to live there!

Hospitality done right, nothing pretentious or over the top. The food is delicious, you can tell it's made with love and care. Very nice combinations of ingredients that made the meal very pleasant.

There's also an outdoor section where dogs are welcome! Definitely a recommendation to anyone passing by this quaint little town, I would be surprised if you didn't find something you like. They even cater to different portions, if the whole sandwich is too much, get a half, no extra fuss.

We found this little gem on Google. The scones alone are worth the drive. A nice menu and friendly staff. Love the option of half sandwich and combo.
