I had a deliciously mouthwatering dining experience at this restaurant a couple of weeks ago. I went there on a recommendation for the fish meal and I wasn't disappointed.

We were a party of 4. We ordered 4 fish meals with kingfish, 2 plates of scrumptious bombil fry and 4 large rechad masala stuffed pomfrets - pan fried to perfection. We were blown away by the freshness and taste of everything. Even the veggies and chapati that came with the fish meal were so very tasty.

For dessert we ordered the alebele. Oh my goodness... these are to die for. You have to taste them to truly understand what I mean. They had just the right amount of stuffing and sweetness, the crepes just the right thickness, nice and fluffy and served nice and warm at just the right temperature. My compliments to the chef(s) in the kitchen. They're doing an amazing job.

Now coming to the ambience... it needs sprucing up, and the service could certainly do better. However considering that everything was freshly prepared, I kinda excuse the service tardiness. Yet certain things could have been better... like my beer and the fresh lime sodas ordered by the others could have all been brought together. The bombil starters could have come with the drinks. Small things really, but they contribute to a better dining experience.

I must say I was very pleased that they had only konkani (Goan) music playing, and it was at a soft volume to allow for conversation. I was very impressed. Great job.

I got the impression that it's a family run business, and all family run establishments have pros and cons. At the end of the day, the soul of a restaurant is the food and Viva La Goa excels. So, the pros outweigh the cons in this case.

Will I be dining there again? O yessss!!!

A rare gem in Mississauga. Service may take some time since everything appears freshly cooked.
Nothing flashy, no BS. Simple, clean and delicious food for the soul.

I’m from Goa and this was my first time trying a Goan restaurant in Canada. I wanted something to remind me of home. Bought a friend along as I wanted to share the experience with how food tastes back home.
I was truly excited and ordered a mix of fish and chicken dishes. Unfortunately, the staff seemed very disinterested, not even a bit of enthusiasm or even a smile. I noticed they were making conversation and being attentive to the other customers. And it was not the case with us. At first I thought it was probably because they were busy, but that wasn’t it.
Our order took really long, and the starter (usually bought first) was bought at the end. The staff didn’t try to communicate or even make eye contact as we had to struggle to make requests during our dine-in experience.
The food was decent and I appreciate the effort put into it, but this isn’t an environment I will dine in at again.

Food tastes disgusting service is terribly slow and the staff is unwelcoming. It felt like i was there as a beggar and not a customer on how they treated me.

Never going there.

I ordered delivery through Uber Eats and the food was amazing. The vegetarian express lunch box I got was so good. I was craving dhal and rice and that was exactly what I was looking for. It was perfectly spiced and so flavourful and so was the vegetable that came with it and with the pickle it came with its a perfect balance. The Alebele sweet is sooo good. I wish I had ordered 2 instead of 1. The fish meal is also very good and worth it. I tried just the gravy of the fish curry so far because I ate the vegetable express lunch box and that was a filling meal in itself. Overall everything was good. No complaints at all. If you haven't tried this restaurant please do give it a try. It's homemade food made with a lot of love and care and definitely worth it. I'm glad I found this gem. I will be back again. Thank you for the delicious food you offerπŸ™β€οΈ

The reviews by Stephanie Pellos and Raphaela Simoes are not true reviews.

In response to Raphaela Simoes you wanted something that is not on the menu and the restaurant does not make. In response you said you did not want to order anything and walked out of the restaurant. You were attended to in a timely manner. The chef was busy cooking for dine-in and take out orders and he is not responsible for taking orders. Furthermore, the person on the laptop was not the owner neither is the restaurant dirty or poorly maintained. It is regularly maintained and kept to standards and regularly passes health inspections (most recently the day before). Please do not make assumptions that are not true. When you came there were people dining in and was not empty and there were take out orders as well. It is not appropriate for you to say it is embarrassment to Goan name when your review is not true.

In response to Stephanie Pellos you only asked whether the restaurant was open and you were told promptly it was open and acknowledged in a timely manner.

Would rate ZERO stars if I could. Terrible customer service! Clearly they don’t care to interact or to acknowledge people who walk in. Do not recommend.

Terrible service and very unwelcoming

We had a disappointing experience at Viva La Goa. When we walked in, no one acknowledged us. The owner was on a laptop and did not look up when we asked if the restaurant was open, briefly looking at us and then continuing to work.

We knocked on the kitchen door and saw the chef. He looked directly at us but did not acknowledge us, say he would be with us, or provide any direction. He continued cooking without speaking to us. There were no other customers in the restaurant, and it did not appear busy.

The restaurant appeared dirty and poorly maintained. The customer service was very poor and made us feel unwelcome. This experience is an embarrassment to the Goan name.

People should avoid coming here. We will not be returning.
