So it was our first time there and I have extreme mixed feelings on this place. The breakfast was very good, well cooked, good service and the coffee was always topped up. The price was only $18 for the both of us, which is super rare!
Then it gets bad, everything is grimy from floor to ceiling and the bathroom was shockingly dirty, for a food establishment. I saw the bathroom after my meal, had I seen it beforehand, I would have left before eating. Sadly, this restaurant needs alot of cleaning for sure and I am shocked it has not been closed down.

Husband and wife team. Great people, cash only! The place is old, very old and dated with crooked floors, wobbly tables and almost always packed with regulars! Our go-to for breakfast. 8am to noon, or 1pm? I think...

I had one of the most disturbing dining experiences of my life at this restaurant. The man preparing the food was not wearing gloves and was handling everything with bare hands. I watched him touch his nose, pick his ear, and cough openly over the food, all while continuing to cook without washing his hands even once.
Toward the end of our meal, he blew his nose behind the counter and immediately returned to handling food without any hygiene in between. He then took a dose of Robitussin, indicating he was clearly sick, and still did not wash his hands. At one point, he even left the building, came back, and went straight back to cooking again, without washing his hands.
On top of all this, the restaurant itself was visibly dirty. Counters were grimy, and the entire prep area looked neglected and unsanitary.
This is a serious public health concern. No one should be eating food prepared in these conditions. I’ve reported this to Ottawa Public Health and encourage others to do the same. I will never return.

Not many local small town restaurants left... They serve great classic breakfasts at an extremely affordable price. I could be biased since we live 2 minutes away, but this is a must try. Just be mindful that it's a small location, so you're not guaranteed a seat, and there are no reservations. First come, first serve. Just how it should be.

Their hours say they’d be open until 1pm. I called at 11:45am to confirm they were still open, the lady said they’d be open for another 30 mins. I said we’d get there in 10 minutes, which we did. Got there and they had locked the doors. Rude, and wasted our time. Won’t be coming back, Navan Restaurant, and won’t recommend you to others.
