Amma’s Biriyani is an absolute hidden gem in Ottawa. The taste is incredible — rich, balanced, and full of those comforting spices done just right. The texture of the rice and meat is perfect, not greasy, not dry, just beautifully cooked. Honestly, it’s one of those places you try once and immediately wonder why you didn’t discover it sooner. Highly recommended!

I have had Ammas biryani many a times in the past both chicken and Lamb. But had a chicken biryani today it’s been the worst one ever. Quantity is good but no taste at all. Really disappointed with the quality and taste. Would never buy again.

It’s simple you’re NOT WORTH THE PRICE AND ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR TOO DAMN LONG.

The owner responded saying they don’t charge $20 LOL. What a fool. We’re not dumb. It’s $16 for the biryani and $4 for the salad that should come with it anyways. Why are you acting like you’re selling gold?

New review: I woke up angry. I had a box of rice yesterday I spent $20 on. Thefor a box of rice? You’re crazy. 2 pieces of BROWN chicken thats 4 tiny bites of chicken. That’s $20 for a combo with salad which you obviously need. You know what I can get for $20? A LOT of good food. I can’t support this, and I’m angry.

3 year old review: Tasty. Needs 1 more piece of chicken tbh. People keep talking about portions but it’s really not that much. It’s 3-4 pieces of brown meat on a bed of rice for $11. Little yogurt container is nice no salad. You end up with a lot of rice you go home and eat it with your own chicken is what I end up doing

The flavors are authentic, the fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked, and the spices hit just right every single time.
