Brother Chiu's Chinese Food

We ordered Uber Eats. Delivery time was slow (an hour for Merivale and Meadowlands. Food was authentic and portions were generous. We got aubergine stuffed with minced shrimp which was tasty and not too greasy. Stir fried choi sum with garlic sauce was crisp but under seasoned. Apologies that we only thought of taking a photo long after digging in.

This place was usualy good but on may 25th 2025, I ordered a large amount of food for a birthday.... the lemon chicken was bitter chewy and inedible... the chow mein had baby corn that had gone rotten/rancid, the sweet and sour pork was made with nothing but the chewiest parts of pig... all sinew and tendon.... the only thing that was good was the egg rolls. Very disappointed as this WAS my go to restaurant and was a favorite.... the worst part is, I left a tip at pick up. I was going to get chinese tonight and remembered to go elsewhere and needed to write this review.

Ordered food as follows:
Chicken fried rice
SS chicken balls
Egg rolls
Chkn guy ding

The chicken fried rice was good
The chicken guy ding was good.

The eggrolls were not good. They were laced hard w cinnamon. That was a spoiler. Couldn’t eat them.

The SS Chicken balls were not good. Literally dripping in oil and flavorless. Had to throw these away. Not edible for me.

Importantly 1) no plum sauce came w the egg rolls, zero and 2) no SS sauce came with the chicken balls. They either forgot these essential condiments or you must order them separately.

So — there were a few minor positives as noted above, but I would not at all recommend this place to anyone looking for good CDN-Chinese food. There are many much better places Ive found like WANs, Golden Palace, Wing Hing, Ruby, etc

We have been going here for 14 years it has been our go to Chinese restaurant but this year will be our last. The food was very greasy the chicken pad Thai tasted like ginger. Overall the food quantity has recently declined to the point where we will not be back. To Brother Chius thanks for many years of great food but with the quality of our last order we will not be back.
