Brother Chiu's Chinese Food

We have been going here for 14 years it has been our go to Chinese restaurant but this year will be our last. The food was very greasy the chicken pad Thai tasted like ginger. Overall the food quantity has recently declined to the point where we will not be back. To Brother Chius thanks for many years of great food but with the quality of our last order we will not be back.

I ordered two chicken fried rice from this restaurant through an UBER EATS.This was my first time experience with them . Sadly, I am very disappointed with food quality.
1. The chicken in the rice was hard to find out and it was the size of bread crumbs with few pieces.
2. There was no napkin and any disposable cutlery ( spoons and forks).
Literally I had to torn a piece of cardboard and make a scoop to finish the food. I was outside not at home.
3. When I was chewing a food I crushed one stone under my teeth and I was literally feeling a stone dirt in my mouth.

Definitely I am not visiting and ordering food from there again.
Be careful guys.

First time going there and amazed! Great food.
After going year after year the food is still amazing. The only down point is other people have found this hidden gem and they are swamped with orders. If they say 45 min it will be ready in 55 min. Worth the wait!! 10/10

Food was below average and that is being generous.. Used to be my favourite Chinese take out spot in Barrhaven but unfortunately, quality has declined drastically. The food does not relatively compare or taste the same anymore after the change in ownership.

Sad to say that the food quality at Brother Chiu’s has really declined. It used to be our preferred spot in the neighborhood for Chinese food, but after several negative experiences, we decided to give it one last go…and it’ll be the last time we go back.

Formerly, the chicken fried rice was some of the best we’ve had. Portion sizes were great (enough for 2 full meals easily from one combination plate). Food was always fresh and appealing looking. The last few times we’ve gone, the fried rice has had little to no flavor, the chicken balls have tasted like fish twice, and portion sizes have gone down. We used to be able to count on being content with what we ordered, but now it’s a gamble.

I will give the restaurant credit for offering a 10% discount for pick up orders, as well as a great selection on the menu. Unfortunately these bonuses don’t really make up for the inconsistency in food quality.

We have always loved the food here.
However, we decided to order online instead of DoorDash etc. Well the person decided at the counter she wanted 10% tip and put this in herself before handing it to my husband. It should be US who decides to tip or not. Just left a bad taste in our mouth.

Ordered a combo #4 with 12 egg rolls. Today i was very very disappointed. My egg rolls were not completly cooked & were so greasy i had to soak it up with papertowel. I order from them often and they must have changed cooks because the last few times i bought from them i had the same problem. Chicken balls & eggrolls both under cooked & egg rolls to greasy to eat......Very very disappointed. I am always bragging about how good the food is here, i will not be doing that any longer?

The deep fried fish filet in sweet&sour sauce tasted good but the beef with mushrooms in garlic was a bit greasy. I recommend less oil and msg to the meat. The food portion is finally back to a reasonable size compared to the one couple months ago. I also ordered the bacon fried rice and the fried Vermicelli with shredded pork the other day. These 2 dishes are totally disappointed. I didn’t see much ingredients in the box but just 98% starch. Seriously, how much would it cost for few more pieces of meat and vegetables?

The food in this restaurant truly exceeds my expectations, that was so tasty, I couldn’t stop eating! Don’t leave the restaurant without trying their authentic shredded free run chicken with Jelly fish, that was lip-smacking good!
