We have been to multiple burrito gringo locations and have been provided really consistent food and service every time. The portions are huge for a good price and everything is homemade.
The service is always great and especially at this location Happy/Harpeet who served us was incredible. He was so lovely and enthusiastic and had a really good way of connecting with customers in a way that seemed very genuine (a very rare quality). Always love coming to burrito gringo when in the area.

The purpose of this review is to convey a genuine concern to the owner so that remedial measures can be taken at the store and to make other customers, with dietary and/or religious restrictions, aware of what I experienced so that they can take necessary precautions, as needed.
I visited the Burrito Gringo located on Strandherd drive on April 15, 2025 around 815 pm with the intention of purchasing a large veggie (tofu) burrito bowl. The customers in front of me ordered large burrito wraps with pulled pork. After the server placed the meat, beans and rice on their wrap, the server used their hands to pick out the vegetables and cheese directly from the buckets, without using the spoons provided for each condiment. The server placed these condiments on the wrap, squeezing them on the dripping pork, in order to fold the wrap. The server was wearing gloves at all times.
Using one's hand to pick vegetables and other condiments directly from buckets results in cross contamination between the meat and vegetables which dissuades people with dietary restrictions from ordering food. The restaurant offers tofu for vegetarians and presents a halal certificate on the wall, however if servers are using their hands to pick condiments directly from the bin and placing them on wraps that have meat on them, it results in cross contamination and it defeats the purpose of presenting vegetarian and/or halal options to customers. Spoons for picking condiments from bins are provided for a reason and servers should be encouraged to use them so that everyone is comfortable ordering their food.
I would encourage the owner to view any video footage to assess what happened and take necessary action to train their servers.
For customers that are seeking a vegetarian or halal option, I would encourage them to do their due diligence, as needed.
I felt uncomfortable ordering my food and left the store without saying anything but felt it necessary to raise awareness about what I saw.
Lastly, I don't mean to get the server in trouble. The server worked hard and interacted well with customers.
A little training and awareness would likely help address this issue and go a long way in making every customer feel welcomed at the store.

My friend and I had our first ever Gringo Burrito experience at this location, and it was absolutely great!
Yes, the menu is small, and that works in their favour as then the staff don't have to memorize a bazillion different combos.There was so much food in my large pulled beef Burrito bowl, and my friend's *small* Burrito, that we both had to doggy-bag the leftovers home.
The staff were attentive and informative, their sauces are epic, portion sizes were incredible, flavours were authentic, everything tasted frickin fantastic. The kitchen and service area were sparkling clean, and yes I do look for such things as I've worked in the industry. The decor was spare but well thought out with Pancho Villa featuring strongly in the posters.
The only, very slight downside, was the atmosphere. I feel that softer lighting would help greatly. The chairs and tables were well-worn, almost too much so. I know fast-food joints do provide slightly uncomfortable seating to encourage people to not linger...but this time, I did want to linger.
Please keep up the great work, so glad to see that there are 6 locations in Ottawa. Please set up in North Grenville as well!!

The food here is actually pretty good, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the place is a major issue. The air vent in the ceiling (top right of the order line) is absolutely filthy, and the inside of the nacho warmer looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. The nachos I received seemed to have salsa spilled on them and then baked into the heater, which was pretty unappetizing.(can’t upload photo but I have one)
The floors also look like they haven’t been properly cleaned in years, which makes me wonder what the kitchen area looks like. It’s disappointing because the food and service are solid, but the lack of cleanliness is a huge red flag. I really hope the management takes this seriously because it has the potential to be a great spot—if they just put in the effort to keep it clean.

Best burrito place in barrhaven. Their secret burrito sauce is the best around. The spicy salsa came out of me like hot lava. 10/10 would recommend. My only complaint is that their ventilation system either doesn't work or they don't use it because I leave there smelling like a smokey burrito. I just want to eat my burrito, not smoke/wear it. This deters me from coming more often.
