One of the best cafés and dessert places in Ottawa.

Very busy, but that’s just because it’s good! Really liked the drinks (we got a chai latte and a pistachio latte). Would like to come back to try more pastries. The pistachio croissant and lemon tart were lovely!

I come here once in a while..bathrooms are never clean..which makes me wonder about the kitchen…but their drinks are good. Also, I asked them to fix my drink and they weren’t willing to, until I asked them again cause I really didn’t like it and they finally did.

We went around 8 pm and the place was packed — all the tables were taken (great atmosphere!).
They also have a bar where they prepare your drinks, and you can sit there as well. The service was super fast and very good.
They didn’t have all the items because of the time, but that’s understandable. However, everything we tried was delicious and fresh, and they served the croissant warm (amazing!).
It’s a pleasant place with good lighting, perfect for enjoying a drink and something tasty! 😊 (total= aprox. $40)

I used to like this place. It’s always been on the pricy side but the prices have gone up even more. For what you pay, the quality and quantity are really meh. The Hojicha tea was basically tasteless, and I’ve had Hojicha plenty of times at other places so I know it can be much better.

We ordered the soft pancakes and waited the full 20 minutes, but they were so tiny when they arrived that we couldn’t help but laugh. It just feels like this place has gone downhill. I’m definitely not coming back.

Check out some other coffee shops instead. There are lots that offer better quality and more reasonable prices.

We had Ferrero Roche Latte and Pistachio tart (my name bc I can't remember what it was actually called) and an Iced London Fog with a creme brule taste. It was all very good. Great atmosphere. Lovely shop!

Great teas and pastries.

However, rude customer service. Will not be returning.

Signage respecting line and cashier is confusing for customers.

Coffee is good, pastries are excellent, service can range from surly to excellent depending on who is working. Decor is very good. What I do not like is that it is used as a study hall. One person occupies a table for four, spreads their laptop and back pack all over the place and sits their for hours. Dao should implement table service so that people either order something or move on. I've come there one too many times in early afternoon with no place to sit.

Unfortunately, my experience at Dao Café was very disappointing. The food was not fresh and made me feel unwell. I expected much better quality.

We visited this popular café on a busy Saturday afternoon, and it was clear why it draws such a crowd! Upon arriving, we were immediately greeted by a helpful and friendly staff member who guided us through the bustling setup. With so many delicious treats on display, it was easy to feel overwhelmed—but their guidance made the process smooth and enjoyable.

The café was lively and full, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Although the order line had no signage, the staff’s attentiveness and efficiency made the experience seamless. Once we placed our order, everything was quickly loaded onto a carry tray, with cups monogrammed with the DAO logo and our chosen snacks beautifully presented.

We visited DAO Cafe with high expectations, being dessert lovers, but sadly, the experience fell short. I have quite the sweet tooth, yet I couldn’t finish the Japanese cake—it was overly dense and lacked balance in flavor. My wife tried the Hazelnut Biscoff cake and felt the same way; it just didn’t live up to the hype. When we asked the staff for recommendations, they confidently said “everything is good,” but based on what we tried, that didn’t hold true. A bit of a disappointment, especially for a place known for its desserts.
