I love supporting the students and I love to eat good food so it's a win-win for me. I went the first week of opening and I plan on going soon to see if things improved. The food was quite delicious (a little cold). The staff were nervous and awkward but doing their best. I'm sure their confidence will only increase as they become more experienced. I used to frequent George Brown's Culinary Student restaurant in Toronto and I'm happy to have found Algonquin's equivalent. See you soon đ

I would return regularly, possibly once a semester to see what the students are cooking up, hopefully the menu chances too to reflect that. The food and service was great. Nice plating. I think you do have to keep in mind these are student work so not everything is perfectly executed. But I think it's very minor details.
I think this place is a great way to get a full course experience at very reasonable prices!

It was amazing. I have always wanted to try this place and I got a chance to through a work event. That being said, I saw the regular prices and I would say itâs not worth it out of pocket. But if you get a chance to book or enjoy them for a group event, definitely take it.

A unique experience with food prepared by Algonquin culinary students under the guidance of world class instructors. Excellent sommelier service as well. Well worth the visit.
This is physically the cleanest and most standardized restaurant in Ottawa you can find, don't get me wrong.
However, the attitude of one of the managers whose name is Cathy successfully prevent me and my friends from returning, even we love the food here and are willing to support the school. Always comes with a God-awful face like you owe her a thousand bucks, no matter you being a student, a worker or a guest here.
When I was being a guest, I was asked by her about the reflection on my experience during checkout. I expressed my general positive impression on the restaurant but also complained about a quality issue with my food, and the only response came from her is, âThe chef did a good jobâ. This is just a tip of the Iceberg of our experience with her. The non-verbal expression of her already made me lose all my appetite, not mention her words. This attitude should not be tolerated in any working place, not mention being a manager in customer service department.
As both a past student and a worker in hospitality area, I had some precious memories in this restaurant with my teachers and peers, and I want to see this restaurant become a more guest friendly place.
The culinary students impressed us, everything that came from the kitchen was delicious although some of the charcuterie board meat was cut too thick.
Our server was still learning, so we were waiting for bread for quite a while, didn't have cutlery, and had some awkward moments at times, but we would visit again !
Quite the enjoyable experience if the scheduling works.
We had supper at Restaurant International yesterday and was very impressed with the experience. The hostess was very welcoming and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. They explained the menus and went out of their way to be accommodating.
The food was delicious and the portions were very large. The options were numerous with a lot of choices and a vegetarian option.
This is a restaurant staffed by students, with student cooks, and they produced a great meal with great service. We would definitely recommend it to everyone and we will definitely go back again.
The hidden gem that everyone should try. Amazing food!

Food was not worth the price. We had the buffet with a mock tail and decaf coffee. Came to $60 - definitely not worth it. Salmon was overcooked, tomato with parmesan and breadcrumbs werenât great.
The macaroni was ok. Dessert overly sweet. Ir was very noisy and hard to hear.

Appreciate the efforts by the culinary students in cooking and serving food. While the food was presentable, the taste wasn't on par with the price $28+ I paid for a lunch buffet. It might have been better off going to mandarin buffet with this price. However, I did not mind supporting the students.
A Culinary Treasure at Algonquin College â Restaurant International
Restaurant International at Algonquin College is nothing short of a revelation. Run by the talented students of the Hospitality and Tourism faculty, this establishment offers an unparalleled dining experience that rivals the quality of a two-star Michelin restaurant.
The food is simply exceptional. Each dish showcases the students' impressive skills, with flavors, textures, and presentations that are nothing short of culinary artistry. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, featuring a blend of classic and innovative dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes. Every bite reflects the passion and dedication of the students in the kitchen.
The service is equally remarkable. The students are professional, attentive, and go above and beyond to ensure a flawless dining experience. Their enthusiasm for hospitality shines through, making you feel both valued and pampered as a guest.
What truly sets Restaurant International apart, however, is its affordability. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the outstanding quality of food and service you receive. It made me question why I had been spending so much at other high-end restaurants when I could enjoy superior meals while supporting the next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals.
Dining at Restaurant International isnât just a mealâitâs an experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates exceptional food, top-notch service, and the joy of supporting aspiring chefs and hospitality experts. Donât miss the chance to discover this amazing experience

Food was excellent, as was the presentation and service was friendly. We had corn fritters, sushi, and Charcuterie boards for appetizers. Our mains were Braised Beef with Potato Gnocchi, Fried Chicken, and Thai Curry with Eggplant and Tofu. For dessert, we had the chocolate lava cake and lemon crÚme brûlée.
