Went here for our annual gathering with our families. We ordered dimsum during lunch and food was not good and with the high price point, the value was not there. The hargow skin was dry, extremely oily and battered cuttlefish dish to name a few. I suspect their dimsum is frozen and not fresh. The brown sugar cake we got was also very stale so not sure how long it was sat out there before serving. Very cramped place, we were sat right by the bathroom and paying area, many times when people are walking by they'd swipe by our cups and food which is not hygienic. Overall not a good experience and probably won't be coming back.
Wheelchair accessibility: Steep stairs down to the basement. No elevators or ramp.

Best shrimp fried rice in town. Love the golden mushroom soup. Most times food is delicious, but occasionally there are food issues like great fried rice with old stale peas. A few time wrong food was prepared and man who hosts is too serious. He needs to smile more. Over all recommend, but could improve a few things.

I searched for this Cantonese restaurant in advance. I didn't understand the previous reviews from diners. The service was very enthusiastic, the taste was very "Lao Guang", and the portions were huge. The restaurant is in the basement and the environment is a bit ordinary.

They have decent dim sum but the portion is small. The services here are horrible and disappointing. We ordered the stir-fried pea shoots with garlic which is stale and super hard to chew on. We could barely eat this dish so we brought up this problem to the head waitress (a short-haired lady) and she was arrogant and said their kitchen cannot control the freshness of vegetables. We had to take our own risk when ordering veggie dishes. I found it very funny. Will definitely not come back and not recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.

The Mapo tofu didn’t taste right, and the portion was way too small. Totally not worth the money.

Bad. I just sick after eating the full of oil duck and the price so high, two people $95 not get enough food. The restaurant also very dirty, please do some cleaning.

Even if the price is expensive, the food is average, the quantity is small, and the service environment is not worth mentioning. Even a restaurant is not as good as a food stall😓

My family has been on the search for an authentic Chinese restaurant ever since yangtze shut down and I'm surprised I've never come across seaking until now! We ordered the hot &, sour soup, Kung Pao spicy shrimp, Cantonese tender beef, and everything tasted SO good. The servers are very kind and friendly. I will be coming back again and again!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sea King Dim Sum on Merivale Road in Ottawa, and it was a truly delightful experience. I tried the shrimp shu mai and the deep-fried shrimp rolls, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The shrimp shu mai was perfectly steamed, with tender shrimp filling encased in a soft, delicate wrapper, while the deep-fried shrimp rolls were crispy and packed with flavor — a fantastic contrast of textures.
The service was friendly and prompt, making the overall experience quite enjoyable. However, one area for improvement would be the menu. While the food quality is excellent, there are several instances of misspelled words and awkward phrasing in the English descriptions of the dishes. It would definitely be beneficial for them to review and correct these details, as clearer menu descriptions would enhance the experience even more.
Overall, Sea King Dim Sum is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic, tasty dim sum in Ottawa, and I look forward to returning soon!

Go to Ng's around the corner.
This place is located in a moldy basement. Mold is visible on the walls. Main dining area is moldy, and the private rooms are musty and moldy too. Floors are dirty.
I was invited here for dinner service, and I would never have picked this spot. Food is coated with a salty-sweet sauce to flavour everything. It's basic Chinese food to appeal a "Canadian" palate. Decent sized-sole fish that didn't need that sticky sauce coating. One guest chugged water to balance out all the saltiness.
Two stars for the hardworking staff, but the food and building are gross.
Chinese cuisine - incredible diverse with flavors and textures ranging from sweet to savory and spicy. I love the lobster dish with sea-salt pepper. Yummy!
Delicious food. We got the braised stuffed tofu and a chicken fillet, and both were amazing.
Service was efficient and friendly.
Looking forward to going back and trying more food!
