I came to Simply Biscotti for a tiramisu and millefoglie birthday cake. The cakes were good, but the experience was terrible. My cousin’s Nutella frappe tasted like water, and the person making it seemed uninterested. The cashier was rude with zero customer service, and despite arriving first, two other customers were served before us. Good cakes, but the bad service completely ruined the visit.

Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures but I love Simply Biscotti! The staff are so kind and the desserts are so delicious! They have lots of special treats which you likely won’t find anywhere else in Ottawa such as the Nutella Cheesecake. They also have some good spaces to just sit down and eat.

We come here all the time and usually on Sundays, it’s always been amazing but the last three times have been awful. The first time we got sandwiches to go and they’d given us the wrong sandwiches, the second time once my sandwiches were ready they took them out of the oven and let them sit there for ten minutes, while serving guests behind me, before giving me the sandwiches and today we came back and asked for them to be heated, the cheese wasn’t melted, the chicken was cold and the egg was almost frozen. The table beside us asked for their drinks to be heated up and and that caused so much confusion and they didn’t even get the same drinks back.
This is not a complaint but rather an opportunity for business owners to improve. The quality of the pastry has been decreasing constantly at this place. The amount of sugar added to the pastry is getting so high that i am getting a sugar rush after a single bite. Not to mention that they replace original ingredients such as cream and butter with cheaper substitution. Price was going up by a lot at this place lately so I was hoping that quality would too. Noup… did not happen.
Recently I discovered other cafes around town that use whipped cream and butter and way less sugar and it tastes amazing.
I am hoping this review would generate a positive change which in my opinion this place deserves to match atmosphere and prices with expectations and experience.
Is it such a big deal to add a real whipped cream to the Lobster Tail pastry!?

This is the best cafe in Ottawa to work from with great coffee and pastry quality and a good, light atmosphere. I’m always searching for new cafes to work from but this always beats them out. My husband is from Italy and he agrees that this is the best spot for a cappuccino and pastry breakfast with a decent amount of seating.
