Horrible experience tonight. We walked in as a team like we usually do on Mondays. The second we walked in the male bartender said it would take forever for our order. Then proceeded to curse outloud and throw his pen at his screen in frustration.

We then waited 2 hours for our order of wings. After the 2 hours only half of our order came out and when the bartender came back to the table we told him they forgot half of our order. He freaked out a bit and as he walked away he slammed his hand on a different table in frustration again. The room went silent. He was and always is extremely unprofessional. Always gives a horrible experience as he's always upset to accept our business (our table spends around $400).

The other girl working was lovely but extremely overwhelmed.

When we told them we'd really appreciate if they could discount some of our bill as our total dining time was 3 hours for wings. They took off 9 soft drinks. When we asked if they could take care of a few wings (especially the second half that came out 30 minutes after the first batch came out even though they were ordered at the same time. They arrived 2.5 hours into our dining experience). They said that unfortunately they could not and didn't really care to save our experience.

We love the oak. We go quite frequently. CenterPoint is hands down the worst experience. And the male bartender there is embarassing. The women at our table felt extremely uncomfortable as well as kind of scared when he lashed out in frustration.

Will not be going to that location again.

Generic pub, no frills. Pub fare and cold beers.

5 stars all the way for The Royal Oak at Centerpointe—and a special shoutout to Ian, our server, who made our visit truly exceptional. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years, I know what great service looks like, and Ian absolutely delivered. He was attentive without being overbearing, friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about providing guests with a great experience. It’s rare to come across servers like that, and it really made a difference.

We went during happy hour, and the deals were fantastic. It’s not just bar rail drinks—there’s bottled beer, house wine, and a solid selection of cocktails all at great prices. The food specials were equally impressive. We ordered the nachos and the fish tacos, both of which were fresh, well-portioned, and flavorful. The nachos were loaded and crispy (not soggy!) and the fish tacos had a great balance of textures and seasoning.

The space was clean and comfortable, with a relaxed pub vibe that felt welcoming without being too loud or crowded. Overall, this is the kind of local spot you want to return to—great food, great value, and truly outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for Ian again!

Great local patio for drinks and pub grub. Wish they would change their food menu I've been through it a couple of times.

This is the best Royal Oak in Ottawa. Their patio is also the best!

July 1, 2025 - Young man greeting people at the door was unwelcoming and unfriendly. Waited over 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken and the place was empty. We Ordered the lobster tacos and the lobster grilled cheese . Wasn’t fresh lobster…tasted terrible. Coors light from the tap was flat and warm. Very disappointing experience. Do not recommend and will not be back.

Dropped by The Royal Oak at Centerpoint, and unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming.

The ambiance is very ordinary — nothing inviting or memorable about the place. The food was just passable: edible, but lacking in taste and variety. There’s really not much to choose from, and certainly nothing that would make you want to come back for more.

Service was fine; no complaints there. However, we were seated at a two-person table that was broken and shaky. I checked a few others nearby, and they were in the same condition — clearly an issue that's been neglected.

What’s most disappointing is the beer selection. For a place that calls itself a pub, the offering was extremely limited. It simply doesn’t live up to the expectations of a proper pub experience.

All in all, The Royal Oak at Centerpoint isn’t a place I’d return to. Poor beer choices, mediocre food, and worn-out furniture make it a forgettable visit.
