Great spot to stop in for a road meal. Good parking and even truck parking close by if driving a big rig. Prices are a tad high in my opinion but ok portions and quality.

Home style meals with good service typical of popular truck stops, this place is now unfortunately only open until 2:30pm until they locate an evening cook. Otherwise this is a local favorite and an excellent resto for truckers and travelers.

We was 12 days ago , we order 4 plates, all come with French fries, but the French fries of the 4 plates was white and not cook, raw, and hard.
Is a basic think and if every plate have French fries they need to work in that to be better.

Great truck themed restaurant. An institution in the area. Great breakfast and quick.

Get stared at by local patrons as if you don’t belong. Order took 45 mins for myself and daughter and full hour for husband and other daughter. Not overly busy. Burgers paper thin, Alfredo has a funny soapy taste. Told would be crediting our bill for the long wait. Charged full amount at cash. Mcdonald’s next visit to town.

After a week in a cabin near Elk lake we stopped at Gillies on way home. We have stopped there a couple times a year for the past ten years, service and food quality has been going down hill year after year . I ordered a Bacon cheese burger with fries, it came with half cooked bacon and fries. I think they forgot to put fries down a second time after blanching them. They were mushy, literally half cooked. My hamburger paddy was burnt to a crisp as was the bun. My wife orderd the breakfast sandwich with home fries. Same thing bacon not cooked cheese not melted, home fries mushy and bun burnt to a crisp. The beef and Barley soup that my wife had was the highlight of the meal. The server never came back to ask if I wanted more coffee, even when she dropped off the bill. The cashier and server must be working together, I listen to cashier pretty much shame you into leaving server a large tip. First off it was cash only , apparently the visa machines were down but the in-house cash machine was not, you know the ones that charge you $5 per transaction and the bank hits you another $3 to $5 as well. After listening to cashiers tactics through our meal, I thought in my mind noway am I giving a $14 tip for bad food and bad service. I left a $5 bill on the table and went the cashier.. I handed her $60 for $46 bill. " would you like to leave the rest for your server?" I said no .. excuse me are you sure sir ? In a louder tone again I said no , I am good . So in even a louder tone so that everyone with in 50 feet can hear," so your not leaving her a tip. I said what Part of no did you not understand? Next in real nasty tone "I will have to go get change" ..8 people behind me at this point.. I gave her 3x$20 and you had no change for that in your till?. UN FVKING BELIEVABLE. This will the last time we ever stop at Gillies Truck Stop. I hope the owner reads this post and stops the high pressure tipping tactics.

Disappointed that a truck stop stops serving breakfast at 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Waited 10 mins for first coffee didn't get offered a top up, food was good just small portion for the price and couldn't get the waitresses attention to get a glass of water.
