The server was lovely. The restaurant was freezing. The table across from us requested the server to turn off the ceiling fan. She apologized and stated the management does not allow staff to adjust settings and they are aware it is cold in the dining room. Almost all tables kept there coats on during their meals.
The fish we ordered was halibut..the fish we received was not halibut it was haddock and it was so overcooked and hard. The fish was also so thin. Mainly batter. The fries were also very overcooked.

The Bowmanville location has never disappointed, but they were closed during the Christmas holidays so we went to the Newcastle location. The fries were noticeably not fresh and the Halibut was cooked a little long but was still enjoyable.

Had our fish tonight from this location as the Bowmanville location was closed. Both fish and chips were very tough and not enjoyable at all. Finding a piece of a paper bag in Caesar salad was also unacceptable. Wasn’t busy at all so maybe that should have been my first clue to go elsewhere.

Had takeout from here. I would have given a higher rating if the halibut fillets were a bit thicker—otherwise it felt like we were mostly eating breading. The chicken souvlaki on pita also wasn’t enjoyed, as they forgot to add the tzatziki sauce. On the positive side, the fresh-cut fries and onion rings were very good.

Worst Captain George’s experience ever. Chips were undercooked on the inside but burnt on the outside. Fat too hot? Had to literally saw through the edge of the very small piece of halibut, leaving the edge bit of fish behind. Server was pleasant but needs to tidy up and present a cleaner more professional appearance.

A really good place for fish and chips.Their special is incredible. Two huge pieces of haddock and fries for twenty bucks. It's buy one get one show for under twenty bucks. Two people can eat and they won't leave hungry coleslaw.Included, when we were there, we met the owner and found out his son was cooking great people.Great restaurant I would definitely recommend

Hadn't been in a while. Definitely under new management. I had a great lunch of halibut, shrimp and chips. The fish was great, and buddy was generous with the shrimp. Ill take a couple extra shrimp and normal portion of chips any day of the week! Will return.

The last three times the waitress either got the order wrong and had to asked 2 to 3 times to receive complements and the bill and they charge 2.4% when you use Visa Its the worst captain George's in Ontario

The fish is always excellent but the fries have gone downhill and are now consistently like cardboard with no taste. I don’t think we’ll be going back unless they dramatically improve their fries. Most chip trucks have far better fries, I’m sure they can figure out how to fix this problem.
