Man, this place has so much potential. Unfortunately they have one bartender/server on a busy Saturday night is just ridiculous. Also, we have ordered one drink and one shot and the bartender is basically refusing to serve. I can understand being concerned about a drunk person being overserved, but quite honestly, this experience has ruined my birthday night as I wanted to let loose at Goblins and go to the emo night across the street. Unfortunately, the service has completely ruined the mood of the night. Two hours to be served two drinks and then denied more is crazy.
Hire another bartender for a Saturday night - seriously disappointed.

Food was okay and the vibes and board games are nice as always.
Unfortunately for a few mains, aps, and 4 of us playing one game for maybe 20min was nowhere near worth $165. The service was terrible; sat for 10min before WE had to get up and ask them for drinks, which we then also found out the restaurant also couldn't be bothered to renew their liquor license on time which would have been nice to know before sitting down. All in all I truly enjoyed my last time here, but will never come back due to the insane cost to play games, eat mediocre food, and insulting service that liked their phones more than grabbing us something to drink. Just don't, and believe me when I say it takes a lot for me to write reviews like this.

Goblets and Goblins is one of my favourite places in Newmarket. The food is incredible, the staff are all so friendly and knowledgeable about both the food and games available. It’s such a cozy, family friendly place that I always recommend people to go! Plus, in the summer they have a dog friendly patio that my pup and I enjoy. 🫶🏻

We came here in August for their Hobbit Tea-time Brunch. The dining room is cozy, with decorations ranging from Edoras and Minas Tirith banners to Minecraft textures and more. One entire wall is dedicated to boardgames, and you're encouraged to play as you eat and/or wait. There's also an outdoor patio, a gift shop, and other parts that we didn't get a chance to visit this time. The staff is friendly, accommodating and genuinely delighted to interact and answer questions. Highly recommend you check out one of their events!

We arrived and waited to be seated. We waited while the waited staff finished their conversation for about 10 minutes. Then we were told to rake a seat anywhere. We sat in the north dining room. A server told us we couldn't sit there. The only place avaliable for us to sit was the basement. We went to the basement and waited to be served for about tm10 minutes. Nobody showed up to take our order. When asked about service I was told to place an order from my phone. It smelled musty and moldy in the basement. We left due to the lack of service and the unfriendly atmosphere. I have been here before and I already know the service is incredible slow. The is mediocre too. We won't go back ever again.

First time here and I had fun time! Nice selection of games. The best thing about this place is the staff!!! Warm and friendly. I have multiple food allergies and was worried about eating at a casual place like this. But I was super impressed. They knew what the ingredients in their food were and made great suggestions on what I could eat and made appropriate accommodations. I ended up having a yummy burger on bread instead of the bun which contained dairy. The salad was nicer than I’ve had at local Italian restaurants.

A wonderful chill place to hangout and play some games .. or just read. We brought our eReaders and sampled their food and hospitality on three separate visits.
The service is friendly, and the drink options we tried were all delightful. The food was a more mixed experience .. If you want a basket of fries or a plate of nachos, all is good . I found the onion rings smelled\tasted a bit 'odd' and the poutine curds were still cold inside. That said, we didn't come expecting a foodie festival, these are more like snacks you might prepare when you're having friends over.
The atmosphere is very 'game forward' and depends on where you choose to sit .. The basement was dark and cool .. a bit dungeon like .. which is perfect for escaping really hot days, or maybe a D&D campaign :) The main floor dining room was bright and seemed like a great place to read. The window treatment screams 8-bit gaming.
We'll be back.
