As usual Joia was a total satisfaction. The food was amazing and service was perfect.

It is a noisy busy place in the evening, full of life, energising. Now, before Christmas the view from windows is in tune with holidays, lighted trees and a scating rink. The waitresses were very confident and skilfull, with such an amount of customers it could not be the opposite. The pizzas were floating around in basil vapours. We ordered the one with vegetables, delicious. The cocktail with campari was so strong that I suddenly loved everything around.

I’ve been to Joia many times, and the place itself is beautiful. The winter view is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is always cozy and inviting.

However, the service is consistently disappointing. The servers come across as cold and dismissive, almost as if they think they’re above the guests. It’s unprofessional and makes me wonder if they’re actually trained to be this rude while still pretending to be polite. For a place as lovely as Joia, the staff’s attitude really brings the experience down.

One small thing I’ve also noticed is that there’s no complimentary bread at the start of the meal. They’ll bring the oil for it, but the bread itself has to be ordered separately. It’s a minor detail, but for an Italian restaurant, it feels like a missed opportunity to create a more welcoming dining experience.

I keep coming back for the view and ambiance, but I truly hope the service improves—and a few thoughtful touches like complimentary bread wouldn’t hurt, either. These small changes could really elevate the restaurant to its full potential.

Quaint, high quality food and atmosphere, cozy, comfortable. First time visit and it was a very wonderful experience.

My partner and I happened to find this place walking down the main Street strip. Definitely try the chicken pesto pizza. This is new found favorite.

We went to Joia for a date night. The bottom part of the restaurant was packed and we were placed close to the kitchen and a high traffic area...I did not want to eat there. So we asked to move upstairs which they accommodated after checking with the server. We sat by a lovely fireplace and enjoyed a quiet dinner with great food and service.

We celebrated a birthday at Joia on Main and it was wonderful! The food was great! (Fantastic choice of specials tonight!) The service was amazing. We've traditionally gone to the Aurora location and thought we'd check out Newmarket. We'll definitely be back to enjoy patio season!

Their reservations system stinks because they have none. An online system is badly needed.

The waitress was really rude and unfriendly. Someone at my table ordered Ravioli and it was 6 or 7 pieces, may as well be a children meal. Would never go back

Although I still love this restaurant and everything about it, I thought I would share my feedback regarding my latest visit.
I went to Joia in September, and was told that they no longer served their wine in stem glasses. An Italian restaurant that does not give you the option. It's because of that, that I have not gone back, and will not, until they offer stem glasses for wine. They charge enough on wine to replace the broken glasses, which is what the server told me was the reason.

Joia on Main in Newmarket was a lovely experience during our bicycle trip on the Niokiidaa Trail. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. The salads we enjoyed both Cesar and and tossed green insalata di compo with chicken were delicious.

This was the first time at Joia's. We were seated on the patio, and it was a lovely evening. We ordered two virgin mojitos, the bruschetta, as an appetizer to share and our mains at the same time as they looked busy.

The drinks came in 10 minutes, but it took about 30 minutes to get the appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised by the bruschetta. It was laid out on a thin, pizza style flat crust with fresh tomatoes, olive oil, and garlic. It was delicious!😋

We both ordered the Linguine Pescatore, which had small pieces of salmon, octopus, mussels, and clams. I was looking forward to this dish but it took almost an hour to come to the table!!

Service was extremely slow all around; I'm not sure if this is standard for a Saturday evening. As we waited, so did others. Everyone was looking around and looking at the dishes coming out to the other tables.

Unfortunately, the dish was a bit salty and very oily. I was too hungry by that time to send mine back, but my friend sent her's back and ordered the Pesto pizza. The pizza took about 15 minutes to come.

I'm glad we had good conversation to cover the long wait. I may come back to try something else on the menu, and maybe the service will be improved.
