The Maids Cottage offers very delicious and freshly baked butter tarts, and other pastries, with unique and seasonal flavours! I've visited this shop twice and both times, all of their products were freshly baked and absolutely delicious! Some of the butter tarts can be a tad too sweet, so it's best to ask the staff which flavours are less sweet, if you're sensitive to too much sweetness/sugar; for me, I don't mind and as I visit every so often, they're a real treat when I do visit to pick up a few tarts! The staff are always friendly, and the pastries and tarts are fairly priced for the quality received. The shop is located in historic Main Street, and I would suggest visiting during the mornings to have the best selections of flavours available. Always happy to visit this shop, thanks! :)

Came on a Saturday morning, and was amazed at all the different butter tart flavors they had! I only got raisin but they had everything from coconut, to pecan, to peanut butter. The two woman upfront are also awesome, very warming and you can tell they love what they do. The butter tarts themselves are amazing, I've heard they've won multiple awards at festivals and can see why. Will definitely be back and try some other flavours next time!

Visited the Maid's Cottage for the first time while exploring the Newmarket Ice Lounge event downtown and was looking forward to trying. Unfortunately, upon entering the staff member was very cold, abrupt and far from friendly or welcoming, which is a prime reason to not return again.

Food is great but their hours are so random. They are not open today and it's a regular business day. Their sign says they're suppose to be open and so does Google. This is the second time we have gone out of our way to visit and this has happened. It's a big inconvenience. Suggestion to all future guests to call before you go.

This place did not disappoint! They had tons of butter tarts to choose from.We grabbed breakfast and an about a dozen tarts. It’s a quiet little place on the inside and they have a little patio out front where tourists can eat.Would for sure recommend!

Bought cabbage rolls.Terrible. Worst I’ve ever had. Thought they would be good based on being a small kitchen.Thew them out
We ordered over 150 buttertarts from here as our wedding favours and they were such a hit! The staff were so great with handling the order, and getting everything ready on time. Still the best buttertarts I have ever had.

The women (sisters?) who run this place are angels. I dropped in once to grab breakfast (a delicious homemade quiche and the most fabulous french toast), not knowing this was the home of Ontario's best buttertarts. I grabbed a few on my way out since my family loves them, and now I've had to return several times for more. Always fantastic customer service, always a great selection of tarts. If you're in the area you'd be missing out if you didn't pop in.

I first heard about Maids Cottage when I visited Midland Ontario, the home of a renown butter tart festival. Maids cottage had been awarded a first place win for their butter tarts. When I visited the store I was not disappointed. The best butter tarts I had had in years. Plus there was so many choices, I will return.
