We visited right before spring and NF overall was dead so needless to say there was absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant as it was nearly empty. Everything was decent and the food was pretty good but it all went downhill when we got the bill. Not only was there an 18% “chef tip” included (for a party of 2 adults, 1 toddler) - when we inquired about it, the waitress made the point to say “ok so you want me to select no tip” (on the machine) - to which my husband responded: what do you mean? “There IS a tip included already”. Then we went on our way - to my surprise when I reviewed the receipt there was ALSO a Niagara Falls Tourist Fee - I looked this up and it is NOT a mandatory fee, not collected by the government and goes directly to the pocket of the business. At no point were we told about the fee and did not
Read it anywhere reasonably legible on the menus or entrance or table - which makes it even less so mandatory. We are really great tippers but when it’s not by choice based on service / when there are secret fees charged, that is absolutely a disgrace.

What a Rip-off! Went to many Benihana’s over the years in different countries /cities, and they were all good.
This one is absolutely ridiculous.
Completely rip-off. You walk thru a stinky (smells like old greasy oil) arcade to elevators and get upstairs to the restaurant.
The waitress mixed up our order…
The prices for a glas of white wine (13-19$) is on the higher end, but you get warm white wine. After complaining, the waitress told us to put ice cubes in. I am sorry, you charge high end prices, clients expect the adequate service and quality.
The kids steak was very chewy. While we were still eating, the waitress asked if we want 1 bill or 2. she never asked, if we‘d like another glas of wine or anyone cares for a dessert. She also never asked how the food was.
The invoice already had a 18% gratuity on it, which wasn’t mentioned before anywhere and we had to pay gst on top of that. What a joke !Then it comes the tourist tax, and now you are wondering why no tourist would ever come again to NF? We paid for 2 adults/2 kids almost 500$. Ridiculous! Not a nice atmosphere, location terrible and food below average and very pricy.

My children and I went here for dinner and as we sat down we noticed the lady beside us had a damn dog at the hibachi table where we were about to eat at. When we left and I spoke to the host about it he actually stated there was nothing that he could do about it so we left! That was so disgusting!

First and last time to Benihana.

The show's fun, but once you've seen it, that's it. Kids loved it though.

The food is so, so, the food quality/handling is abysmal. Not suited for anyone with allergies (which none of us did). Our party of 4 has 3 end up with mild to severe food poisoning about 6 hours after eating at Benihana (and no other meals in between).

Maybe a miss, maybe something systemic? I don't know, but I certainly won't risk going back to this location.

Kid-friendliness: Someone kid friendly for older kids. The younger ones will still love the show aspect. YMMV.

It looks amazing! However with every single table open they seated me at the only table with other people. Then when I saw the prices I thought why would I pay over $100 and not enjoy my own table? With that price I am sure they can afford to serve a second table.

Most of the food was good salad dressing wasn't the greatest, sauces offered was not appealing, beside a bit of burnt flavoring some was very bland (steak) teriyaki chicken and shrimp was the best parts! But prices for the quality of food and portion was overly high, $17 for a small glass of sangria is a bit much and the automatically added an 18% tip! They don't show the prices on the website so people can prepare how much they are spending there alone so if your on a budget I wouldn't recommend it!

Chef was nice, funny good spirited, server was nice though!

Very expensive, the flavor left a lot to be desired. The portion served rationed. First and last time. They charge your account without explaining it to you. Restaurants next to this one where you pay less than half for excellent service and flavor.

This restaurant is still collecting taxes from their customers. They obviously don't pay taxes to the government. So why are you collecting taxes? Just raise the prices of food. Don't scam tourists like scammers.

The first glance at the bill, I noticed that they charged me a tourist tax!
I told them to remove it and they did, just had to tell them that I was local!!
Actually am local but this is a complete scam tax, they tell you that it goes to the city of Niagara Falls to help pay for the lights at the Falls, NOPE, THEY KEEP THIS TAX FOR THEMSELVES, NOTHING GOES TO THE CITY OR REGION!!
Then the server comes back with the TOURIST TAX REMOVED, however after looking at the bill I see that the HST SEEMS WAY HIGH, especially since it has been removed on restaurant food right now!!
What they did was CHARGE ME HST ON THE 18% Gratuity! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!
Why would anyone voluntarily pay HST ON A $120.00 TIP!! 😡😡😡😡
So I called her back and told her to REMOVE THE HST and she did!
WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE SCAM ON UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS!
I did provide an 18% tip, however I have no idea if the staff will ever see a penny of it!

Food was good. They add the tip of 18% to the meal. You’re required to pay it. I was charged Canadian dollars even though I paid with American dollars.

Interesting place, food was good. But for $300 spent for 2 people is way too much. They charged us 18% tip without asking, this is insane. The chef was good but not great. Behind us the chef was performing a fire show, ours showed us fire 2 times.

Definitely the worst experience I have ever had at a Benihana. Overpriced for sure if you are Canadian and after I phoned prior to coming to the restaurant about there being no fees, they responded with only tax. That was a lie as they charge my friend and I a Niagara Tourism Fee of $6 and we had to pay 18% tip. That was not agreed upon. They did not deserve an 18% tip. The food was very well-prepared and just right, thanks to Chef Toto. However, they were dishonest on the phone and waitresses, hostesses and management were staring and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for my friend and I as we were ordering and talking to one and other when I was promised only a tax fee. We wanted our own table but were not granted one as soon as a group of three walk into the restaurant.

Definitely not coming back to this Benihana. Way too overpriced! Not the best service. Food is what to be expected: fun and yum.

Thanks, Beni Niagara for snaking an $100 off my good friend and I!
