This place is definitely underrated. Came here with my family and everything tastes great. We had the mussels, the pear and chicken salad & all of us ordered the fish and chips. First of all, the garlic butter sauce was outstanding and made a great sauce after to dip our fish and chips in. The salad was fantastic - the chicken was warm which and the combination of all the ingredients worked well.
The staff was pleasant and we had great service. It's great food at a reasonable price!

Andre' was or first contact
Amazing young man, very knowledgeable about the menu.
Great customer service.
Actually the best we had while dining during lunch.
It was great to see a man of color in a widely white town.
He made us feel special, like we actually mattered.
Shaw wine bar you've got a gem in Andre'.
Thank you.

Came here on vacation and this place was nice
Server was polite and the food was good (the fish and chips) but a little pricey, the patio seating and the view of the rest of the street also looked very nice

Not impressed, I wanted to leave after interacting with hostess & looking at menu... Waitress was busy elsewhere & never checked back with us...Fries were best food on table, after I got up to get our ketchup, then forgot 1 order so we had to wait. Drinks were weak. Dust all over lights and fixtures. Water damage in places... Bathroom was clean tho. Hope you have better luck than us...

The food wasn’t extraordinary, but it was definitely edible. What stood out more was the great service. The staff really made us feel comfortable and taken care of, which helped balance out the overall experience.
Being in a tourist area, I can understand why the meals are priced the way they are, though the value didn’t quite match the cost. Still, it is what it is.
We were a group of six seated inside. The music was quite loud, so it wasn’t the easiest place for conversation, but manageable. I can also see why some reviews mention slow service. It’s not the staff’s fault. The staff worked hard but the restaurant layout and operations felt inefficient. For example, our waiter had to run upstairs for wine and glasses, then all the way down to the basement for food. It’s easy to imagine how that slows things down when the restaurant is packed.
Overall, we had a pleasant experience thanks to the service, but the food and value could use some improvement, and the operations might benefit from a rethink.

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK HERE BEFORE READING THIS OR THE OTHER REVIEWS. MANY BETTER DINING OPTIONS IN THIS AREA!!!!
While traveling through Canada for several weeks, we decided to try the Shaw Café and Wine bar in Niagara on the Lake. During the time that we were in Canada, we had lots of fabulous meals, but unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the food or service at the Shaw Café and Wine bar. I normally check the reviews before trying a restaurant for the first time but the outdoor space was really lovely so we decided to try there. The food and the wine was marginal at best. We shared a wine flight, my boyfriend had the fish and chips and I tried the mixed green salad-nothing fancy, still mediocre at best. The staff was OK, but not available when we needed something. Inside the restaurant was dirty, especially the restrooms. I can't believe that this place has remained open based strictly on the cleanliness or rather, lack thereof. The incident that really made us angry happened as we were leaving. I left the terrace and got a few steps away and decided it would be best to go back and use the bathroom again. There was a tall, thin, black man standing behind the host stand. He stopped me as I was trying to walk inside the restaurant and said that I could not walk any further into the place. I told him that I had left there moments before after having a full meal and offered to show my paid receipt, almost $100 US. He continued by saying that the owner allows no one back in the restaurant once they leave the property. I am 69 years old was professionally dressed and had politely asked to use the bathroom again and I was sent away. I had a $4 breakfast sandwich at Tim Hortons the following morning and the 17 or 18 year-old young man that served me then was profoundly more professional than the host at Shaws . Nothing like this has ever happened to me in my travels around the world. REALLY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE ALL THE WAY AROUND.

Title: Disrespectful treatment of deaf tourists
Review: We are deaf tourists from Ukraine. By mistake we opened a bottle of wine, but as soon as we were told it was not allowed, we put it away. Still, we were charged $9 per person without warning and even threatened with police. We understand the rule, but we expected respectful communication instead of feeling discriminated against. This spoiled our impression of the café.

Food isn’t bad, but looks like supermarket frozen type of food! Doesn’t worth the price

Shaw Café & Wine Bar has a beautiful patio and a great central location in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The service was awesome Isaac was especially friendly and excellent. The food was decent, though not halal, and prices were on the higher side. The washroom needs some TLC as it wasn’t very clean and had spiders. Overall, it’s a nice spot for the atmosphere and great service, but the facilities could use improvement.

How very disappointing and disrespectful of your customers. We TRIED to patronize your establishment at 5 o’clock this afternoon for drinks in your wine bar and were told we could not be seated unless we ordered food, which we might have actually done, but did not get a chance to even look at a menu and decide for ourselves. What is a wine bar if not a place to go have a drink??!! You lost out on a sizable drink bill and the 11th post benefitted from your lack of service. What a disappointing end to our day at Niagara on the Lake!

The patio here is absolutely gorgeous — flowers, sunshine, and a prime spot right in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Honestly, it’s worth visiting just to soak up the atmosphere and watch the world go by.
The food was fine, nothing bad at all, just not as memorable as some of the other local spots. Same with the service — friendly but a bit slow, though it could’ve just been the timing we went.
If you’re looking for a place where the patio is the main course and everything else is the side dish, Shaw Café fits the bill perfectly.
