Given its location (out in the sticks and nowhere near an ocean), we were surprised to find a sushi restaurant at all, let alone one with such good reviews. The outside gave us pause but inside, it's clean and cozy with typical décor.. the washrooms and what we could see of the kitchen were *very* clean, which is the first thing we look for on any first-time visit. The menu is a bit pricey ($8 for miso soup?) but the maki, special maki, appetizer and bento portions were quite large, and the presentation showed a high level of care. The menu included Japanese and Korean dishes, and in all cases, the ingredients were fresh and flavourful. A small special request was met with a smile, and no extra charge, and the staff seemed genuinely happy for our patronage. The refresher (half a fresh orange) at the end of the meal was nice. This wasn't a high-end dining experience, nor was it a showy cosmopolitan affair, but the service was genuine, the food was good and exceeded our expectations. We would definitely eat there again.

I was looking for a new sushi place in town to try. My overall experience with Misoya was very mediocre food for the price point. Some of my sashimi pieces were not that fresh!! I was hoping this could be a hidden gem, but it was a disappointing overall experience and will not be returning.
