I accompanied a friend who requires a wheelchair, and the museum and restaurant were fully accessible. All the doors are automatic, and the staff were so kind as to accompany us via a shortcut to the to the parking lot. The galleries were not at all crowded on a Tuesday afternoon, and the restaurant was moderately busy with excellent, attentive service.
This was my second time dining at Diwan. My first experience was a number of years ago. There was four of us for lunch. We each ordered a cocktail prior to ordering our food. The cocktails took a very long time to arrive. All four were tasty and nicely garnished when they did arrive. Two guests had the shrimp curry, my husband had the salmon and I had the chicken biryani. The shrimp curry was rated as good to very good, the salmon good, the biryani was very good, although the rice could have been hotter. Portions are quite large. You would be rather full if you also had a starter. For dessert one of us had the butterscotch ice cream and two of us shared the lemon lavender cheese cake. Unfortunately we all found the service slow and underwhelming. We were not in a hurry but it just seemed that the wait staff were not on their best game. The restaurant was not busy with only 3 or 4 other tables occupied.
Food was very nice and prices were not excessive. I found the spice level modest - perhaps tailored for less tolerant palettes such as mine. Better descriptions for those less familiar would help; also staff were misleading when asked about size of dishes. We could not finish two shared appetizers between 2 people had an untouched third dish packed up. we would have been happy to just have the two starters but the server led us to believe they were quite small, barely enough for 2 people. I felt upsold which I find quite off putting. Also it was not very busy but we had to repeatedly request water fill up. I would be willing to try again but I suggest caution when ordering.
I order the lamb shank, vegan falafel bowl and Zaatar fries and everything was tasty and delicious.
The lemonades are always varied (and delicious!), and I think sometimes are flavoured with herbs grown on the grounds of the Aga Khan Museum.
I have been to this restaurant several times - and each time is a lovely experience with delicious food! The service was particularly friendly yesterday - wonderful staff!
We went for lunch. Service was efficient. Food was excellent. Would recommend this for anyone visiting the Aga Khan Museum.
We were sitting outside on a very comfortable (weather) day. Sizzling platter was very good however more than that...... Suchin was amazing and made my birthday lunch lovely. Thank you.
Aesthetically beautiful space, delightful and attentive staff, delicious food and substantial portion sizes. We are already talking about a second reservation. To those wanting a new dining destination, check it out.
I personally didn't enjoy the food a lot and the table was wobbly 😑 But the service was really really good 😌

Our reservation was for 1pm on the patio. We were on time. We placed our order....... but did NOT receive our food until 3/4 hour later ...... AFTER I complained!!!! The food was good. I would not say " worth the wait" However it was as beautiful day and the Aga Khan museum is a beautiful place. The restaurant however needs to improve its service and food choices.
Narrow menu but each item was delicious and well presented. Pleasantly surprised that alcoholic beverages were available to accompany the meals.
The service was not up to par this night. I know they had a large wedding party at the restaurant at that time but they should have added more staff to accommodate the other patrons.
Such a disappointment after a couple of nice meals a few years ago. Summerlicious menu for dinner - choice was limited, portion was small and not tasty, yet too salty, desserts too sweet and hardly any berries for the mango sorbet with berries ... service not good, had to ask several times for water refills... and yet 20% service already charged to bill. Will not return.
It was amazing food to taste, the staff were very friendly and helpful. One recommendation, the table set up in the restaurant needs rearrangements but I would go back there for the food and staff
