“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.”

The variety of options they have with their fish options are amazing, some with pumpkin-flavoured items and whatnot. Would definitely recommend! Only downside might be that this place is quite popular so there can be long wait times (as seating is limited) and quite a bit of noise (at the time of writing, on most days the restaurant is filled with a lot of people who can be quite disruptive to a happy meal).”

Shinta Japanese BBQ and our server Chen was a big reason why. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout the meal. He explained the menu clearly, checked in at the right times without being intrusive, and kept our table running smoothly. “If I could give six stars, I absolutely would. This place is excellence in every way. Whoever runs this restaurant truly knows what they are doing. We have been ordering sushi from here for the last few months, and every time we try somewhere else, we always end up coming back here.
Everything about their sushi is outstanding: the quality of the rice, the freshness and amount of ingredients, the flavor, the presentation, and even the pricing. You can genuinely feel the care and attention they put into every order.
This has become our go-to place for sushi cravings, and we cannot recommend it enough to anyone who truly loves sushi.

“I've been to Yu Seafood Yorkdale several times. An upscaled restaurant near all the high-end retailers. I bought my nephew here during his business trip and everything is good, and the bill was paid without going through the details. Not until I got home and found out one of the dishes was missed out from the dinner set for six. I called the restaurant the next day and the general manager Neilson responded promptly. It could be a human error and promised to compensate on my next visit. Having said that Yu is a great place to enjoy dinner or lunch despite of the mistake they have made on my last visit.”

“I had Simba's during Ramadan this year, I haven't realized that I should post a review, so here I am. This is, without a doubt, the BEST chicken spot I have ever tried. I went there with my 4 cousins and we all were in love with it, I never knew chicken could be THAT good! We got 2 Ramadan specials and a combo meal, The Ramadan special was amazing, the fried chicken sandwich, the smash burger, the tenders, and the fries were all so good. There's not one thing I disliked about Simba's. Keep up the amazing work, I hope to be back soon!”

However this time around I was pleasantly surprised with this specific A&W location just west of dufferin and finch. I personally don’t love A&W but this location hit it out of the park!
When I arrived I was greeted by a staff member by the name of Charrie. Charrie made this A&W location feel kind of like home. She was incredibly helpful, caring, respectful, well spoken and kind. It was truly refreshing and amazing to be greeted and taken care of by someone like her! Not to mention all the staff working at this location presented the same time of hospitality and care like she did. 10/10 customer service and hospitality.
Now The food was freshly made to every order that went out. The staff was organised, operational and worked as a team. 10/10 food and service.
This location has no drive thru and is walk in only. No order is rushed and quality is immense.
Also 24hr open. Amazing.

The seating area is a little limited, and it is warm, unless the doors open for incoming customers. It is a little expensive but fair for the quality and quantity of food.”

Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.”

The menu included an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $75 per person, with the option to upgrade to a 10-oz steak for an additional $25. We went for the steak upgrade and it was absolutely worth it. 🥩
We chose Prime for my birthday dinner and it ended up being the best birthday dinner I’ve ever had. The service was attentive and relaxed, and we never felt rushed. We were there for about two hours but didn’t even realize how much time had passed because the atmosphere was so enjoyable.

Today I brought friends here expecting a great experience, as this used to be one of my favorite Korean restaurants. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing.
We asked the server for extra side dishes, and he simply brought them over without mentioning that there would be an additional charge. Later, we noticed a $7 charge per side on the receipt, totaling $21. At no point were we informed about the cost or given an option for portion size.
When we raised the issue, the response made things worse. We were told the receipt couldn’t be changed, the manager wasn’t available, and the staff weren’t trained to use the system. That level of unpreparedness is unacceptable.
It’s really disappointing to see a place I used to recommend go downhill like this. Unfortunately, this was my last visit.

I came here specifically to try their Ganjang Gejang (raw blue crab marinated in soy sauce), it seems that they might be the only restaurant that serves this dish in Toronto, that I could find and know of. There is a very slight fishy smell when I sniffed it, which is expected since it's raw crab, but when I was eating it, I didn't find it fishy at all, it was really delicious. The crab roe was soft and rich, the meat was smooth and fresh, everything went really well with the rice. I can see why this dish is called a rice thief now. I was really tempted to order another bowl of rice but on account of my diet I stopped myself. I would definitely try this dish again. I also ordered the kimchi stew and my friend got a spicy beef soup. Although it was not as outstanding as the Ganjang Gejang, Both were delicious and portions were good. The side dishes were good as well. Not sure if there's free refills or not since we didn't ask for any. The service was good, it's a smaller shop, seems like it's family owned. People were doing multi jobs so if you wanted more tea or something you have to ask them, they do really try to check up you though and would walk around once in awhile to refill your tea and see how you're doing. Overall a good dining experience, I would come back to try their raw crab. However if I was just going out for Korean food then I may not specifically go out of my way to come here since although the other dishes were good, it's not super outstanding. Aside from indoor dining they also have outdoor dining, there's a big white tent outside, they provides pretty good shelter, there's also hanging lights out there, really cute set up. The chicken box included three pieces of chicken and wedges, and both were served fresh and hot. The wedges were especially impressive—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and cooked perfectly.
The service was really fast and friendly. Parking is also free as the plaza has free parking.
Overall, the food was enjoyable, the quality was solid, and everything tasted fresh. While there is some room for improvement in the sandwich flavor, this is a good option for fresh fried chicken and delicious wedges.”
