“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.“

“On September 21, 2025 my husband and i hosted a party for our 85-year-old friend. We were greeted with Happy Birthday Greetings. Our waters were never empty. Our food came on time, was delicious and hot. and all 8 of us enjoyed every chopstick full of such tasty food. Thank you to the staff that took care of every want, even a dish of ice cream dolled up for the birthday girl. Very nice treat. Thank you. Every time the service has been exceptional and caring a bit more today made it memorable for everyone Thank you.“

“I got take out last night, rushing to eat before work (salad and chicken shawarma sandwich). It tasted odd... shortly after,, I called the location to tell them, something was off with the ingredients. I wasn't sure of it was the onions, turnips etc. something was left out too long perhaps... and today I am sick as a dog. I've eaten here before. I think they need better quality control on the food... especially being safely stored.. perhaps temperatures..etc“

“Update:
Today I brought friends here expecting a great experience, as this used to be one of my favorite Korean restaurants. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing.
We asked the server for extra side dishes, and he simply brought them over without mentioning that there would be an additional charge. Later, we noticed a $7 charge per side on the receipt, totaling $21. At no point were we informed about the cost or given an option for portion size.
When we raised the issue, the response made things worse. We were told the receipt couldn’t be changed, the manager wasn’t available, and the staff weren’t trained to use the system. That level of unpreparedness is unacceptable.
It’s really disappointing to see a place I used to recommend go downhill like this. Unfortunately, this was my last visit.
————————————
My go-to spot for Chicken Katsu and Short Rib!
The Chicken Katsu is always perfectly crispy, and the sauce is unbelievably good—rich, tangy, and addictive. Paired with the fresh cabbage salad on the side, it hits all the right notes. The short rib is tender and flavorful, and the rice portion is just right—not too much, not too little.“

“Joey is our go-to place for special occasions in our family. The food is always amazing no matter the location, the servings are generous, and the staff and servers are friendly without being intrusive. I really liked their high chair for little babies. It was the type that attaches to the table — it was perfect for our 10 month old!“

“The first time I tried this authentic Korean restaurant in GTA, and it was great. The mapo style beef was especially good, really spicy but absolutely delicious. The spicy fried chicken is a must order dish. I also loved their kimchi so much. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit.“

“Not truly wheelchair accessible. I was very much looking forward to dining here. After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tabule in Bayview Village, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What impressed me most was the excellent balance between quality and value—the portions were generous, the ingredients tasted authentic and fresh, and the prices were very reasonable for the overall dining experience.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout our visit. A special thank you goes to Mina, whose professionalism, kindness, and exceptional customer service truly elevated our experience. She has a remarkable ability to make guests feel valued and comfortable while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. Her friendly attitude and attention to detail added a personal touch that made our meal even more enjoyable.
It is team members like Mina who turn a good restaurant visit into a memorable one. She created such a positive atmosphere that it left us looking forward to returning soon, not only with our family but also with friends so they can enjoy the same wonderful experience.
If you are looking for delicious food, fair prices, and outstanding hospitality, Tabule at Bayview Village is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.“

“Just WOW!!! The food we ordered was amazing. We got a chicken/pork souvlaki dinner, chicken leg main, and moussaka. The chicken/pork souvlaki dinner comes with salad, rice, potatoes, eight pieces of meat, olive oil/vinegar and tzatziki on the side. Both dinners were excellent especially the pork souvlaki, and I usually prefer chicken souvlaki to pork. For the pork souvlaki there is a wait of like eight minutes but it is so worth it. The chicken leg was so, so good, perfectly seasoned! The main is a smaller portion than the dinner and it is a good size if you aren't too hungry. My absolute favorite was the moussaka. I have tried moussaka in many different restaurants and you can tell they don't make it themselves. This moussaka is homemade and the best I have ever tried (been to Greece many, many times). The moussaka is a HUGE portion and honestly surprised me that it was only 23 dollars. Overall the food is amazing and so worth it. The store is really clean (even the windows), there is plenty of parking, and the service is wonderful. The young lady in the front is so helpful and nice. Can't wait to try more things!“

“We tried both the bulgogi and kaboom pizza and they were solid pies. We opted this time not to go with the cream cheese crust which was a better option as it limited the sweetness of the overall dish and was a better balance of flavor. The green tea dough was solid on its own. The kaboom, while heavy, was super cheesy and we got great cheese pulls out of it and crispy cheese on the crust.“

“Cute Korean restaurant about 3-5 min walk from Finch Subway station. Tip: exit through the passenger pickup area of Finch station if you're walking, that's the closest exit to the restaurant. I came here specifically to try their Ganjang Gejang (raw blue crab marinated in soy sauce), it seems that they might be the only restaurant that serves this dish in Toronto, that I could find and know of. There is a very slight fishy smell when I sniffed it, which is expected since it's raw crab, but when I was eating it, I didn't find it fishy at all, it was really delicious. The crab roe was soft and rich, the meat was smooth and fresh, everything went really well with the rice. I can see why this dish is called a rice thief now. I was really tempted to order another bowl of rice but on account of my diet I stopped myself. I would definitely try this dish again. I also ordered the kimchi stew and my friend got a spicy beef soup. Although it was not as outstanding as the Ganjang Gejang, Both were delicious and portions were good. The side dishes were good as well. Not sure if there's free refills or not since we didn't ask for any. The service was good, it's a smaller shop, seems like it's family owned. People were doing multi jobs so if you wanted more tea or something you have to ask them, they do really try to check up you though and would walk around once in awhile to refill your tea and see how you're doing. Overall a good dining experience, I would come back to try their raw crab. However if I was just going out for Korean food then I may not specifically go out of my way to come here since although the other dishes were good, it's not super outstanding. Aside from indoor dining they also have outdoor dining, there's a big white tent outside, they provides pretty good shelter, there's also hanging lights out there, really cute set up. We dined inside though since it was windy.“
