But they did offer a pasta that is dried from the sea breeze with the natural salt from the water / wind making a profound difference in the texture and flavour. Definitely worth the experience overall and the a la carte menu has great options for a great price.Great wine and caviar menus.Jeff the manager is the best!!!!Make sure you get a photo in the washroom with the window of the city as your backdrop ?”

“Planta, the vegan restaurant, exceeded all expectations during my recent dining experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability and plant-based cuisine. The menu at Planta is a true masterpiece, offering a wide array of innovative and flavorful dishes that cater to both vegans and non-vegans alike. The creativity and attention to detail in each dish are truly commendable. I started with their zesty avocado tartare, which was a burst of fresh flavors that left my taste buds. What truly sets Planta apart, though, is their commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing. Knowing that every ingredient on my plate was not only delicious but also environmentally conscious added an extra layer of satisfaction to my meal. The service at Planta was exceptional, with knowledgeable staff who were happy to answer any questions about the menu and offer recommendations. The wine list and cocktail menu were equally impressive, providing the perfect accompaniments to our meals.”

“There are many fine sushi restaurants in the GTA and Kibo is a franchise chain, but it consistently delivers. Temper expectations to good sushi and maki at reasonable prices and it is worthy of a pretty solid review. Does it stand up to singular and dedicated sushi chefs? There is a reason why we have so many Michelin-rated Japanese and sushi restaurants locally. So Kibo isn’t competing with those … but it’s still good.”

“Celebrated my birthday with 6 courses tasting menu. Everything was superb and extraordinary. I loved my experience there. The menu was well curated and thought of. Star of the show were the fish courses !! definitely above and beyond! The staff made sure we had everything as needed ! The instant polaroid camera was a nice addition to my birthday celebration.Things to work on:- Some of the servers did not know the dishes very well so we did not understand it fully until the menu was handed out.- There were additional charges to truffles that were not discussed. The server asked us if we wanted truffles as the taste may not be everyone’s cup of tea but failed to declare it’s at extra costs. Only found out when paying the bill.- The dessert course did not stand out like any Michelin star restaurant. I was disappointed. Very ordinary flavors and simple intake.- Tables too but for small seating. Please consider having smaller tables for part of 2!”

“Came here for dinner. Had the barbecue ranch burger with a side of dragon fries. The two onion rings inside the burger was fantastic. My burger was quite tall with it so I had to remove one and eat it alone. But with the one still inside, it gave it a nice crunch. I also want to commend Ivan our server. He recommended the dragon fries and the ginger ale drink. The peppers on the dragon fries were amazing and added a nice level of heat. Both were amazing. I would definitely come back for both the service and the food. Thank you Fresh and thank you Ivan!”

The food, based on the menu may give the impression of a large portion of food however, the portions are tapas style and you will not feel stuffed like you do at other places. “Went here for a friends birthday. Two things, wish they gave us a free cookie for him or something ?. Also, I wish they sat us by the window because it was snowing and pretty. There was a row of empty booths too, and it’s not like there wasn’t a server there because there were still SOME people seated by the window.Otherwise, our server was amazing and attentive. He got the vibe and did his job proper. For food, we got one creamy mushroom pasta, the smoked salmon pasta, as well as a margarita pizza. The pasta was SO creamy and the texture was perfect. The pizza was actually thin sliced and you can taste the quality in ingredients.A bit pricey, but that’s reflected in their quality. Will be back, thank you for having me! :)”

“If I could give service 10 stars I would. A friend and I went for dinner and our server was so sweet and attentive. Just one example of the excellent service we received: while we were sitting in the back covered patio, she noticed I put on a sweater. She immediately turned on the heaters and came over to let us know, in case I was feeling cold. It’s small moments like that, that really make you feel taken care of. My only regret is not leaving a bigger tip. I’ll definitely have to return and offer more next time.As for the atmosphere, the place was full and lively but didn’t feel overly crowded or loud. The space itself I would describe it as unpretentious but still felt refined. Finally, the food. We ended up getting a main AND an app of the beef tartare since it was so delicious, as well as the trout which was cooked beautifully. To be honest pretty much everything on the menu called out to us. We also got a salted chocolate mousse that we shared and it was a perfect way to end our meal. They also had a great offering of wines and drinks.Overall: fabulous staff, great food, lovely atmosphere.”

Bar Isabel 797 College St, Toronto Spanish • $$$$

“All I can say is - AMAZING. We initially wanted to order a few dishes to try out, but realized there was a tasting menu that they offered. Bar Isabel doesn't tell you much of the tasting menu, and it's a very interesting concept, but I can confidently say that everything about it was amazing. You basically give the waiters an estimate of how much you want to spend on the tasting menu, and if you have any food restrictions, and they will bring out the dishes off the menu that they think you will like.Everything about this experience was so memorable. The good was amazing, everything was fresh. The sea bream ceviche and chips was so refreshing, and the shishito peppers are super tasty. I could go on and on about how incredible everything was (the food, the server was INCREDIBLE by accommodating all of the dishes we wanted to try), but I think the best way to experience everything is just go and try. We went here for our anniversary, and they even brought us a little dessert with the sign.WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK SOON.”

“This place is special. We tried it in summer 2023, and it blew our minds. We've been back multiple times since then. We celebrated a special birthday here, and it was so good I took my mom here for her 60th. In her words, it was "the best culinary experience of her life". Frank's ever-changing vision of his menu is not only inspiring to home cooks like myself, but jaw dropping with what he offers - and no two visits have the same menu. The staff are lovely, unpretentious and ensure you feel at home when dining with them. And don't get me started on their wine list. I'd give them 10/5 if I could. We will be back many, many, many more times. Thanks Frank and team.”
