We then travelled to one of our favourite places Kensington Market to this restaurant. They were welcoming and offered us a taste of the soup since we had travelled so far. It was delicious. My friend I were looking for vegan Ethiopian fare, but didn't realize that it was a 'take away' outlet and mini grocery store . That did not matter, the kind woman who was looking after us that night, made room for us; make shift chairs and proceeded to prepare amazing food. She fed us freshly made items and that were very delicious. She prepared Ethiopian coffee. It was like being in someone's home. I actually picked up a couple of grocery items (nutritional yeast for one). Overall, a surprise visit on a very cold January evening, but it worked out remarkably well. Hospitality was top notch. “We love Island Foods! We were regulars when it was over on King. But it closed and we moved out of the neighborhood. So this is our first time at this location - and it did not disappoint. "Seconds" (I can't tell the difference) are $7.00 for a bag or twelve frozen. I bought two bags because they are truly a bargain. A large variety of Carribean food available but we did not try on this visit. However, a long line of people were getting take-out so they have an excellent reputation. Place is not wheelchair accessible. Only down side is limited parking for their popularity...maybe ten spots maximum. However, they do have a parking security guy in the lot keeping things moving and orderly. Tried they "spicy" version patties when we got home. Absolutely delicious. This will be a regular spot for me. Highly recommend.“
