I love that there is a high end caribbean Jamaican place for everybody but also a safe place for we to 5 star dine without being treated badly or stared at( which happens in fancy places if you caribbean) i don't usually like fish but tried my friends snapper. I have a shellfish allergy and she immediately could tell us it was all prepared in a completely separate area and that there was no problem whatsoever ! So on that front I recommend it too.“

“So I’ve been trying to come up with the right words to explain the impeccable experience my husband and I had at this restaurant, words can’t do it justice. First impression as we walked in the door was how much it reminded me of back home islands vibes. The owner was present, attentive and overflowing with Caribbean hospitality. The Trini fusion dishes we tried were fantastic. This was such a treat and we loved every second of it. We left there needing to tell the world about the gem we had found. Thank you! “First off - the food is great. Had the Curry Goat, meat is perfectly tender coming off the bone and the flavour in the curry is rich and complex. Rice & peas are fluffy and seasoned well. The staff is incredibly friendly and took measures to accommodate my wife's allergy incredibly well. Coleslaw is just how I like it too.

“Delicious vegan Caribbean food in the heart of Kensington Market. Veggie D'light hits the spot for lunch on a weekend. I had their meal with jerk saitan, veggies and basmati/quinoa. I asked about the soup of the day and was promptly offered a taste by the friendly chef. Had the medium soup as well--a delicious rich soup with yams and coconut milk. Now I have a new favorite lunch spot.“

“If you’re looking for good food and chill vibes, definitely give this place a try! The food was flavourful and delicious, with generous portions and great presentation. Our favourite was definitely the mac and cheese/macaroni pie. The tres leches, however, wasn’t the best.

The service was good overall, but they do get pretty busy, so don’t expect too much when it comes to service. I’d recommend making a reservation through OpenTable.

We came to celebrate my birthday, and my friend had secretly added a note to the reservation asking if they could bring out a cake or dessert with a candle. Unfortunately, it seems the note was overlooked, which was a little disappointing. Aside from that, we had a good experience overall.“

Ordered the Injera Thali Plate and it was packed with so much flavour :) each dish had its own unique taste and they complimented each other well. I really liked the potato dish (super savory) and lentil dish (perfect amount of heat)

“I finally was able to attend UMI's Kitchen after so many attempts by UBER and DoorDash as it always says unavailable. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. I thought it was located more east on Dundas but it's actually near Dundas and Sherbourne. Toronto has tried to revive the neighborhood but, it has the same energy. I was lucky as parking is street parking so expect to park and run in to get your order. It looked closed when I got out and the door is not new but, I got in. It isn't a big place but the lady who got my order was pleasant. I ordered a small Oxtail (not cheap no more), side bbq chicken, 1 veggie and 1 beef patty, small chicken soup (good), Pineapple soda. I thought the salad would be handled but no salad like no coleslaw! I was like wow. The food is good. I really enjoyed the veggie patty wish I had gotten three of them. The bbq chicken was nice. Not hot but, it was a great add to my Oxtail meal. I was glad I finally could say I gave this place a try. I am sure others will attend. The area isn't the most desired place to attend but, it's about the food which for this day was my goal.“

“I went there for the first time around noon and bought three things: doubles, pholorie, and a ginger beer (Solo). First off ,the doubles were fresh and warm, with the taste of all the spices natural flavors mixed with sweet and spicy bursting in my mouth. In just three bites, it was gone. Next, the pholorie was also fresh, having just come out of the fryer—exactly how I like my food: hot. The tamarind sauce was sweet and spicy; that too was amazing. As for the Solo, it was full-bodied and strong in ginger, even better than Canada Dry ginger ale.“

“It’s incredible how a small meal like a beef patty is filling than 10$+ full course meals. It’s a snack a beef patty but it’s just so filling, made with care and love. Parking can be an issue but the security guards do the most to help you out. The cashiers move quick and they handle food properly accordingly to safety standards. This patty spot is a must try!“
