“I was very impressed. Being of West Indian descent, I can honestly say I’m not always used to such warm service—but this was the complete opposite. Everyone greeted us with huge smiles and made us feel incredibly welcome. Myself and two guests ordered the oxtail, and it was a 10/10. The portion size was excellent, perfectly seasoned, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Thank you, Suzie’s!“

“So thrilled to finally have a quality j*** joint in the hood. Ox Tail is perfectly seasoned & cooked. Curry Goat to die for. I love Wanda’s J*** pork. It’s real spicy. She does a great cook on the her chicken as well. I haven’t had a meal that I can kvitch about. Even the fish is tasty & tender. Sides are perfectly cooked & if ya want it hotter ask Wanda for their hot sauce !!! Yikes Prices & portions are reasonable. “Came here to dry the doubles - got the Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat Doubles and it was the absolute best doubles I have had in my life. There was so much meat and flavour was so good - the portion was huge. My sister and I tried two at the restaraunt and got three to take home immediately. I liked the chicken roti, the chicken was moist and tender, however I feel like there isn’t enough chicken for the amount of wrap that is given.

“Viv's is the best carribean food around. The Jerk Pork, BBQ Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, Curry Goat its all delicious. The owners are so kind as well, it really is home cooked mom & pop feel. “Called around 2:30 PM on Christmas Eve asking if they still had oxtail. I was told yes and i mentioned I’d be there within the hour. When we arrived, the owner had saved our portions for us — such a thoughtful and generous gesture, especially on a busy holiday.
The oxtail was absolutely amazing — rich, tender, and full of flavour — and the portions were very generous. I had called several other places earlier and no one else had oxtail left at that time, so this really felt special.

“A hidden gem in Mississauga I came across by accident. The restaurant had an offer on Skip the Dishes for free delivery over $30, a late night special. I checked out the reviews and decided to give them a try. Being a Guyanese girl myself, our standards for authentic Guyanese Chinese food is very high. And we tend to already have our usual go to spots for these dishes. But boy was I surprised and in luck! Just opening the fried rice box and the smell alone, I knew that I was in for a huge treat! The special fried rice is served with crispy fried chicken on top. It was exceptional and the chicken was juicy and tender inside and very crispy on the outside. I also ordered the pepper wings. They were very well seasoned, spicy and extra crispy. I was shocked that both dishes were still piping hot and super crispy despite my home being almost 15 minutes away from the restaurant. I also ordered a few shrimp rolls, that were also very crispy and delicious! If you’re looking for the real deal authentic Guyanese Chinese food in Mississauga, definitely check them out! I’m so happy I found this spot and will be back!“

It is the kind of Caribbean comfort food that does not miss on the fundamentals and delivers exactly what you are hoping for every time.

The only consistent drawback has been the service. It can be quite direct and not particularly conversational at times, but the kitchen more than makes up for it with how dialed in the food is.

“I love reading reviews before I go to places and this place had a 3.7 star. This place is much better than 3 7. I had jerk chicken on rice and peas with coleslaw. The jerk chicken was definitely Spicer than i'm used to but still good. Probably the best rice, peas and coleslaw that I've had, was so good and perfect. Helped balance that heat too. The lady at the counter was very kind and friendly. My juice was not expired like the last post I read, the expiry date says 2027-12-10.

Grandson had the burger and fries, loved the burger, and he is picky said the fries shouldn’t have the little spices on it, I tried it and loved them, again he is picky. “I’ve been coming to Benab since the late 90s and have always supported it over the years. It was always my go-to for West Indian-Chinese food (5-stars). Unfortunately, the last few times was a bit disappointing. The quality and experience were not what they used to be. It’s sad to see such a big change after so many years of loyalty. I hope they can improve and return to the standards that made this place special to me and the family.“

“This is a place that quality is strictly dependent on who is working. In my opinion.
I have been coming here for close to 35 years and I definitely noticed a pattern. The Chinese Jamaican lady that serves is absolutely a gem and nice and gives u better cuts of meat (jerk pork) yet some of the other ladies will give u gristle and fat non edible chunks like u are some sort of idiot who won't care. So if u go... Speak up and tell her to not use fatty cut chunks. A few times I threw out portions of the jerk pork because it was not edible... unless you are a wolf.
They make the best jerk pork ever... It's definitely worth coming here. Just be vigilant and watch them prep your pork and speak up. That's what I do now and u can't go wrong.“
