Grey Gardens Reviews
Carefully crafted food menu and wine list. Very welcoming staff. Contemporary ambience.
Celebrated wife’s birthday here, and it was delicious!
The black cod was incredibly tender
The fried pie was a highlight, with a churro-like crust that was my wife’s favourite
Didn’t realize I was dining in Vancouver tonight bc this meal was gastownnnn!!! Went for a highly anticipated grey Monday tasting menu and was wow wow wowed by pretty much every bite (particularly the shrimp ravioli, and yes, I’m GLAD it came with bread). Grey Gardens in Toronto presents a small yet unique menu filled with flavorful dishes such as lamb noodles, smoked pork chop, branzino fish, and a mushroom dish bursting with umami. The Branzino Crudo is particularly noted for its freshness, enhanced by crispy shishito peppers and a touch of sourness from the pomelo. Guests enjoy the casual and laid-back atmosphere, which allows them to relax while savoring their meals, complemented by excellent service that is both friendly and attentive. The restaurant offers pasta dishes like the Casarecce, known for its chewy noodles and delicious saffron with mussels, and the Caramelle, with lemon zest cutting through the richness of the ricotta.
Grey Gardens has become a go-to spot in Toronto for those seeking a celebratory meal or a solo retreat, celebrated for its consistent quality and exceptional food. Standout dishes include spaghetti with duck, fennel, and parm, and the scallop crudo with chicken fat. The dining experience is further enhanced by details such as changing dishes and cutlery before every new serving and attentive service that ensures water glasses are always filled. The hand-torn lamb noodles are particularly flavorful, while the maitake dish, served with a smoky mushroom and a rich umami sauce, is a highlight.
With a delightful atmosphere and a memorable menu, Grey Gardens remains a must-visit for anyone looking for good vibes and an extraordinary dining experience. The crab apple dessert is a unique offering that shouldn't be missed, combining rich caramel flavor with tart crab apple ice cream, making it a standout. The wine list and drinks are also commendable, and sitting at the chef's counter is highly recommended for an engaging experience.
