“A lovely modern bistro tucked away in Kensington Market and a great spot for a date night. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was attentive throughout the meal.

We enjoyed the food. The mackerel crudo was clean, refreshing and nicely prepared. The chicken liver ravioli did not disappoint, especially when paired with the bread we ordered. We also shared the steak and had a strawberry dessert at the end.

Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and since they change the menu regularly, we would definitely come back to try more dishes in the future.”

“Dinner and service were both exceptional. We enjoyed the Silver Needle Noodles, Mapo Tofu, Short Rib, Steak, Cabbage the most out of all the dishes we ordered. Can skip the Orange Chicken in our opinions. Drinks were all delicious as well (range of cocktails, NA drinks and wine). Ordered the French Toast and Soft Serve for dessert. French toast has a heavy black sesame flavor. Soft serve flavor that day was sweet corn and I loved it. We had a large group (6) and made a reservation beforehand so highly recommend that. “Finally lively AYCE hotpot with wagyu.

Liuyishou is a popular outfit for traditional hotpot, and here in the GTA they have long moved to AYCE format. This Scarborough location has been around for a long time as seen by the dated interior. Nonetheless it’s still popular with some good promos to compete among the huge swath of Asian restaurants in this plaza. We chose an array of hotpot broths including the house special spicy, sukiyaki, pork bone broth & tomato soup.

We came here to celebrate a family occasion, and Liuyishou delivered with its good selection of broths, meats, seafood, and veggies. The $8 Wagyu add-on on weekend was a nice upgrade—thinly sliced, tender, and worth trying if you want something a bit more indulgent. The $3.99 all-you-can-drink station was a pleasant surprise too, making it easy to keep refilling without thinking twice. Service was quick even despite it being relatively busy and a bit loud during dinner peak.

Note the pricing per adult ($34.99 weekend dinner) excludes the soup base which is about $17 for a large shareable pot or $9 for an individual sized pot per guest so the bill can rack up. The wagyu and drinks are add-ons too. They do have a 2 adult + 1 kid family combo for $73.99 on weekends with one drink pitcher excluding soup base. Dessert is included such as taro soft serve, rice ball soup & cold jelly.

“It was my first time going to this restaurant and Leslie was kind enough to show me his recommendations for each category on the menu. He also explained the spice levels available. I ordered sauteed pork with bamboo shoots with regular spice and it was amazing. Spice level was tolerable. I was sweating but it wasn't bad that I couldn't taste the other flavours. Serving was more than enough for one person. I had to get the rest for take out.”
