“Food was decent, we got the sukiyaki and beef bone broth, they were both a bit too salty for my preference and had to keep chugging water. The meat quality was good, and overall quality of the food was good. I felt that the sauce bar and utensils could have been cleaner, and dispensable chopsticks should be used. Their chopsticks had stains as it was wood and didn't feel thay sanitary.

Only 1 server was around but the restaurant was very empty on a thurs night. The ice cream at the end was good.“

“Grabbed dinner here after soccer practice on a Tuesday around six and the place was already comfortable and not packed, which made it easy with two tired kids in tow. My youngest tore through the popcorn shrimp kids meal in about five minutes flat while my older one actually finished her broccoli for once, small miracles. Our server kept the biscuits coming without us even asking and checked on the kids more than she checked on us, which I always notice and appreciate. Easy parking right out front, quick seating, and everyone left full and happy, exactly what you want on a weeknight with the kids.“

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“

“A friend and I enjoyed lunch on Friday October 17. We had reserved and were seated at one of their window tables. Our server Quinn was friendly and efficient and was able to offer his opinion on main dishes we selected. The portions were more than generous and both of us were provided with take away containers. My friend has decided to book a family birthday here later this month. And I plan to return to Trattoria Di Parma early in November with friends who will be visiting from Calgary. Rude staff and an even more rude owner... don't bother complaining about anything because you're just going to get cussed at... absolutely appalling behavior... the usual crowd are loud obnoxious and seriously over their limits. I've witnessed tables and chairs falling all over the place on many occasions because people are way too intoxicated to think. The owner acts like he's untouchable and says things like " you're in a bar what do you expect " . I expect to be treated as a paying customer. Never going there again. also... one of the servers is literally always drunk out of her mind... my very first visit she was crying about her ex... and almost every time I ordered wings SHE GOT MY ORDER WRONG....over and over again!! let's just say ive had many free wings and stuff from her as an apology... I gave them a chance. several actually. but after that conversation with the owner.... im done. DO NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!“

Beautiful marinated herbs (I’m not sure what they were but they were delicious). I ate really slowly because I didn’t want it to end. This place is a treasure be warned. They have a sign up saying ‘no tipping’ you’ll want to tip, but they forbid it. 😊 I started a table on the sidewalk and enjoyed a beautiful day on College Street.“

The balance of flavors was spot on—each spoonful was a comforting, savory mix of the ocean’s finest, warming us right up. Next was the Octopus Quinoa Salad, which was a pleasant surprise. The octopus was tender and juicy, paired wonderfully with the light, nutty texture of the quinoa. The fresh herbs and dressing gave it a refreshing, zesty kick that brightened up the dish. For the mains, the Grilled Iberico Pork Steak was simply divine. It was cooked to perfection with a slight char on the outside and tender, succulent meat inside. The cabbage and rice complemented the pork beautifully, adding a satisfying crunch and subtle sweetness. The Grass Fed Prime Ribeye Steak was another highlight—juicy, rich, and flavorful with just the right amount of fat marbling. “Luma is in a great spot conveniently located right in the theatre district. The restaurant is large, open and modern. It was wonderful to be in a downtown restaurant where there is lots of room between tables and you can hear each other talk. The service was excellent. The servers were very attentive and the manager came around twice just to check and make sure everything was to our liking. The food was presented beautifully and tasted great, especially the pickerel and beef short rib pasta. It was our first time at Luna but we will definitely be going back. I highly recommend it.“
