So much good stuff about this place! We asked our server Janet about who designed the interior (it was one of the owners). And oh wow, place absolutely rocks! It gives you this very relaxing retro vibe with notes of modern details

Drinks were superb! They have old fashioned with twist and a lot of other quite interesting cocktails
Service was amazing (thank you Janet), we felt truly welcomed and taken care of, it added even more to enjoying our night out

“A very interesting looking restaurant where the name and the decor seem not to match. However, does that really matter? The core gives you the feel of a hunting lodge and a sporting pub. The menu is small, which is great, especially since everything on it was delicious. Their burger was probably one of the best I’ve had in town.“

My friends and I had a blast! Brandon made us instantly feel welcomed, talked to us about the drinks and we ended up ordering a cocktail called Simply Cindy and it was the best drink of the night! Rude staff and an even more rude owner... don't bother complaining about anything because you're just going to get cussed at... absolutely appalling behavior... the usual crowd are loud obnoxious and seriously over their limits. I've witnessed tables and chairs falling all over the place on many occasions because people are way too intoxicated to think. The owner acts like he's untouchable and says things like " you're in a bar what do you expect " . I expect to be treated as a paying customer. Never going there again. also... one of the servers is literally always drunk out of her mind... my very first visit she was crying about her ex... and almost every time I ordered wings SHE GOT MY ORDER WRONG....over and over again!! let's just say ive had many free wings and stuff from her as an apology... I gave them a chance. several actually. but after that conversation with the owner.... im done. DO NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!“

“I hosted my 32nd birthday party here, and the staff, food, and atmosphere was top notch. It’s not often a Toronto bar can be reasonably priced, prioritize community, have amazing food/drinks, and a kind, knowledgeable staff — but Bluebird checks every box! Truly one of the best bars in the city, and it was an amazing experience from planning to execution. Big thanks to Caitlin for helping to put it all together!

“I was just at Zakkushi on Carlton, terrible service there！！！made me leave before even eating. I came next door to Kintaro, I’m so glad I did. The food here is much better, the flavors are balanced (unlike Zakkushi, which was way too salty), and the service was genuinely friendly and welcoming. This place beats Zakkushi in every way. Highly recommend Kintaro—skip Zakkushi and come here instead.“

But I saw this sign, and upon walking in, there was no A/C.

Also, the bartenders will sometimes just talk to their regulars instead of serving a less regular person who just walked in. Makes me feel less welcome. Makes it feel like a place for friends to just hang, not for new customers to enjoy.

Still, once you're seated and served, it's a great little bar. Perfect for 20 somethings.“

“Always come here every wednesday for their BOGO deal for yuugi torched salmon sushi! Their service is great and they always treat us nicely every time we come. On sundays, they also have omurice which is always a treat, definitely recommend trying that if you’re hungry! If its not a sunday, the omurice poutine is good too. The karage is very normal, my friends really like the house sauce!“
