“Fantastic experience at The Old York Tavern. I had never been, but my cousin recommended it and will 💯 be back. One of the best brunch patios I’ve been on, ever. Situated in more of a residential area, you are not getting the overstimulating hustle and bustle vibe of the city but more of a chill and quaint small town. The polarizing view of the CN tower was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the lobster Benedict and the French toast. Top notch!“

“A very good lunch/brunch place here in the market. A nice spread of comfort foods and you can make your own plates and combos. Highly recommend getting their salads with some sides and latkes for a whole meal experience. The old couple that run this place are very nice 🙂“

“The Thai red curry was just amazing, reminds me of my trip to Chiang Mai. The seafood pasta with mussels was also great. All made in house. Rare find in area. Great craft beer. A hidden gem from all the places in the area that serve basic chicken wings and deep fried offerings. The entrance is not desirable, but was told the entrance is being renovated.“

“I originally had a disappointing experience with the 6-piece meal and sides because the chicken seemed like it was cooked in old oil. However, after letting the staff know, they redid the entire order with fresh chicken, and the difference was huge. The new batch was hot, fresh, crispy, and tasted much better. I appreciate that they were willing to fix the issue and make it right. Much happier with the meal after the replacement.“

“Karly was our server. We had the BEST experience today and it was all thanks to our server! From the moment we sat down, she was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. You can tell she really cares about what she’s doing, she made us feel comfortable, checked in at the perfect times, and had such a positive, upbeat energy the entire time!

Our drinks and food came out quickly, everything was exactly right, and she made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable while also accommodating my sleeping toddler in his stroller.

“Waking up in Toronto for the first time, all you want is a good, home cooked no-frills breakfast. What seems like a quick Google search turns into a full on hunt with how many options were along Dundas.

Each with their own overwhelming “vibe,” when all you wanted is something simple, warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, hard to find in a city like this.

But thankfully for us, we hit the jackpot with New Sunrise Grill!

Easy, simple, kind, attentive and the warm and welcoming hospitality that makes it your go-to breakfast spot during your stay, even if it’s only for 3 days.

Especially when you receive service from someone like Ms. Carol. A kind and sweet soul from the get-go, I’d have many more meals here if I lived in the area.

At the end of the day, who cares about all that branding if you don’t have personality or hospitality?“

“Blomboon on Queens Quay W is a fantastic spot on Toronto’s waterfront. I had the Persian breakfast and it was absolutely delicious — you can really taste that everything is made in-house and prepared with care. The flavors were fresh and authentic, and it felt like a thoughtful, high-quality meal.

The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, and the waterfront location makes it especially enjoyable during the daytime. Sitting by the water while having breakfast adds to the whole experience.

“It was my first time at the Roses Social when we went there for the Cinco de Mayo brunch event. It was already a full house when we arrived and there was a queue of guests waiting to be seated. The atmosphere was very lively while a Mariachi band was playing. We started our fiesta with their curated cocktails made with luxury tequila—Don Julio 1942. We had Roses Paloma and Flower Child which were both refreshing and had the right kick in lieu of the festivities. For the food, we went straight for the mains and then shared a dessert which was good for two people. *MAINS* LOBSTER and SHRIMP ROLL It was such a flavour heaven but not overpowering thanks to the Chipotle aioli. There was a generous amount of lobster in the sandwich and the bread that was used was delicious in its own right. PANCAKES SUPREME The pancakes were light, fluffy, and perfectly tangy, with the ricotta adding a creamy richness that balanced beautifully with the citrus. The berry compote added a burst of sweetness and tartness that complemented each bite, while the Chantilly cream melted delicately into the stack. A sprinkle of granola on top brought the perfect crunch, making each mouthful a delightful mix of textures and flavors. STEAK and EGGS The perfectly cooked golden yolks added a creamy contrast to the savoury steak done the best way possible: Medium rare. Together, the combination is simple yet deeply satisfying. *DESSERT* CAST IRON COOKIE It's a fusion of warm chocolate chip brownie and salted caramel, perfectly balanced by a scoop of creamy vegan vanilla ice cream. Each bite delivers a rich variation of textures and flavors that’s both indulgent and comforting.“

The portions exceeded expectations and the sandwich is packaged together so well it isn't as messy as I thought it would be.

Also this guy is quite generous you get 3 dill pickles that are perfect and crispy. They make the single floppy pickle you get from firehouse seem like an expired frog leg.

It would be great if they offered real chili powder or a spicier option. This might just be a personal preference, as I usually prefer more Asian-style spicy. I also wouldn’t recommend the corn, as it was too creamy for my taste.“

I chose a dish that she approved and my wife chose a more traditional Swiss Chalet menu choice (The 1/4 chicken). My choice was a new dish (Chicken Teriyaki) that is being tried out in several different Swiss Chalet stores and was really excellent. I would suggest that possibly there was too much food which is all delicious. I normally attend the Swiss Chalet on Yonge just north of St. Clair and I will ask for that option there.“

“One of those real, authentic, non trendy, super hospitable restaurants. An old Toronto gem in a trendy neighbourhood like Liberty Village. I am a sucker for a soup and a sandwich so this was perfect. You choose your own sandwich and add toppings yourself, subway style. They also have coffee and alcoholic beverages and free wifi and indoor and outdoor seating. It gets hot in there in the summer.
