“We arrived at about 12:30 were greeted by a friendly young lady and seated right away..Sydney Peel was the manager that made sure our table was changed to make it more suitable for us..she was friendly knowledgeable and very professional always with a beautiful smile! Our server was (Mat) or Mathew he was super..served us with a smile and circled back several times to make sure we were happy or did we need anything more..great service from everyone..we loved our lunch! The staff is outstanding here and food is awesome! Thank you!!“

“Fantastic experience at The Old York Tavern. I had never been, but my cousin recommended it and will 💯 be back. One of the best brunch patios I’ve been on, ever. Situated in more of a residential area, you are not getting the overstimulating hustle and bustle vibe of the city but more of a chill and quaint small town. The polarizing view of the CN tower was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the lobster Benedict and the French toast. Top notch!“

“You can never go wrong with a quarter chicken dinner or chicken pot pie. Staff is friendly. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow when the restaurant is busy. You can get points if you have a scene card. It helps that there is a free parking lot in the Plaza. Great location too.“

However, after letting the staff know, they redid the entire order with fresh chicken, and the difference was huge. The new batch was hot, fresh, crispy, and tasted much better. “Went a few Saturdays ago while a World Cup game was on. The design & atmosphere is very welcoming & nice- they had TV’s both inside & outside with a DJ playing music inside. The service was by-far the best part; the staff were friendly & helped recommend us a beer to try (which we all enjoyed). The server noticed my friends pay for two of my drinks, asked why, we said it was celebratory, & she offered free shots on the house. Truly made our night. Also noticed the same staff person frequently walking around to make sure everything was in order, they seemed like they genuinely cared about the place. Would recommend.“

“Medieval Times was a fun experience for the whole family. It was fun to see the horses and some of the characters before the show started. We all enjoyed how almost all of the staff were acting in character, it made it a better experience. The show was fantastic and the actors were really able to get the crowd engaged.“

the early days of a new baby the sudden accumulation of mass, the chaos of a shifting space, and the exhausting effort of trying to organize a new chapter.

I spent the afternoon helping an old friend and ex-colleague declutter her home, trying to help her find some structural order so this new phase of her life can actually begin.

Amidst that heavy lifting, we broke for lunch at Swiss Chalet. It is rare that a legacy institution delivers exactly what you need when you need it, but the execution today was seamless. We both ordered the Monday special, complete with the nostalgic utility of the finger bowls, but the true anchor of the meal was the staff.

We were looked after by two waitresses who managed a shift change mid-meal so fluidly it was entirely imperceptible. Their energy was lovely, efficient, and thoroughly ego-free. They provided an environment that didn’t demand anything from us, allowing us the rare room to just breathe, catch up, and celebrate the new baby.

Huge thanks to the staff today for making an exceptional, stress-free space for two old friends to reconnect.“
