“I was really looking forward to visiting, especially because it’s Chef Sanjeev’s restaurant. The reviews were mixed, and my experience was similar — a few dishes were good, while others didn’t quite meet expectations.
My main concern was the portion size. We were told the serving was for 4 people. There were 3 of us, but it still felt a bit small for the price. I expected a bit more value for the money.“

I really like the Chana Masala (chickpea) but wanted to switch it up, Manpreet suggested the Samosa Chana to start which we thoughohly enjoyed.

For our mains we shared, Malai Kofta and the Lamb Vindaloo 10/10.

The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the bits of onion and bell pepper added a nice crunch and freshness. “Absolutely delicious authentic indian food! You can tell this restaurant gets the best ingredients and puts in the effort in their spices. We went around 6 people, great and convenient location, just 5 min walk from Bloor and Yonge Station. We ordered Samosa Chat, Cheese Nan and Chicken Tikka Masala from the appetizer and had Lababdar and Special Butter Chicken in the main course. I must say, the food was so delicious, I am in love with Chicken Tikka Masala. The service was also nice, Will definitely go again.“

“I happened to discover Maurya East Indian Roti, a hidden little gem tucked away in a quiet corner. Once I stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful patio outside and a cozy, relaxing atmosphere indoors. The staff are always warm, friendly, and welcoming, making every visit a pleasant experience.

I tried their Butter Chicken Combo, and despite the restaurant's tucked-away location, the food is anything but low-key. It's always rich, fragrant, and incredibly inviting. Every time you walk past the restaurant, you can smell the delicious aroma. The portions are generous as well. If you order a roti on its own, you'll be amazed by how huge it is!

If you're really hungry and looking for a hearty, satisfying meal, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. I especially recommend the Butter Chicken Combo. Besides the flavorful garlic roti and rice, it also comes with a sweet little dessert that finishes the meal perfectly.

“As someone who spent years in Delhi, I’ve always had high standards when it comes to street food, especially momos. I was just passing by this restaurant in Toronto when I noticed momos on the menu and decided to try it out of curiosity. Honestly, the experience went far beyond my imagination.

I ordered the tandoori momos and shawarma, and both were absolutely incredible. The momos were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, with that smoky tandoori taste done just right. The chutney brought back memories of Delhi street food instantly. The shawarma was equally impressive — fresh, juicy, well-seasoned, and packed generously.

You can genuinely feel the passion and quality in the food here. It’s rare to randomly walk into a place and end up this impressed. Definitely one of the most unexpectedly satisfying food experiences I’ve had in Toronto. Highly recommended!“

“Myself and 3 friends just tried Kadak for their Summerlicious Menus and we were extremely pleased with our choice! Their 3 course menu had lovely options and the server (owner?) asked if we would like to share so we could try more dishes and it was a great idea. All dishes were put in the middle of the table. We loved everything! It's the best Indian food I've had and the others in our party agreed. It's definitely worth a try and we will be back!“

“Food and cocktails are amm..mazing. Tried the pepper chicken, tandoori prawn, balchao toast, scallops, champaran maas and naans. For drinks we had the paan old fashioned, lychee lust, green mirage and mango lassi. Dessert was parle G cheesecake and the staff were so kind to throw in a mango lassi pannicotta. Hands down some of the best Indian food my family and I have had at a restaurant, period.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars for atmosphere is because there is no washroom inside the restaurant, which, considering that you have to use your hands to eat some or all of the food, is a little bit of a hassle. Otherwise, 5 stars all around!!“

“My husband and I often visit Caffe Maurya, and it has become one of our favourite places in the neighbourhood. The food is always delicious, flavourful, and very filling. We especially enjoy the biryani and curries, and the portions are so generous that one serving is often enough for both of us.
Everything is freshly prepared and packed with flavour. We also love finishing our meal with gulab jamun, one of our favourite desserts, and the masala fries are absolutely amazing.

Now i am trying the rest of their menu from the restaurant on Danforth. So much flavour and depths.
