“A good friend from Montreal, was in Toronto today, and an acquaintance who we haven't seen for some time, and Bill and I met for a late lunch at the 'House on Parliament', (454 Parliament St. - west side of the St., south of Carlton St.). Someone recommended to us and it was our first visit there. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was great, the food (great menu) was delicious, and the prices were fair! I had the 'Vodka cured smoked salmon' with fresh basil cream cheese, capers, cucumber, red onion confit and crostini. Very fresh and very tasty. The others also really enjoyed their meal too. If you're ever in the vicinity, I would highly recommend going there. Check out their page on fb to see some great pics of the food they serve. We will definitely go back there...“

“We Stopped by after the Germany - Ivory Coast World Cup Game.
Very nice and friendly welcome. We sat outside and had delicious chicken wings and a couple of beers.
Would visit again the next time I come to Toronto.
P. S. I believe our group forgot a purple backpack that contained our Germany flag and other stuff at the place. Would bei nice if you can contact me.“

“Visiting from Denver, CO. Found this place by chance and it is excellent. Chris is friendly and more importantly knowledgeable about the local beers he serves. We're only in town for a few days but we will stop in every night that were in Toronto.“

“Looking for a new, favourite haunt? We highly recommend the Prohibition Social House. Located in the Riverside Neighbourhood on Queen Street just across the bridge from the Distillery District and known as the small town in a big city. The ambiance is subdued with low lighting and soft music, creating an inviting, friendly and intimate atmosphere. We dined 2 evenings while visiting nearby family. The menu is creative, diverse and complete, which would satisfy tastes from the basic to the more discriminating palates. Beer and wine selections were impressive and very reasonably priced, especially during their 2 different happy hours. Our servers were Victoria and Talia, both of whom were courteous, friendly, personable, highly engaging and extremely professional. We were also warmly welcomed by management staff. Customer service was outstanding. These qualities and the food made us return customers. On the first evening, we thoroughly enjoyed battered mushrooms, tuna tartare, cob salad and the famous Prohibition burger. The mushrooms were not the standard button variety, but specialty oyster mushrooms coated in a light breading, quick fried and served over greens with a very flavourful aioli sauce. The elegant bluefin tuna tartare was fresh, succulent and professionally presented. The cob salad was fairly standard, but plentiful. The meal highlight was the burger. The Prohibition Social House grinds their own beef, meaning that you can order your burger cooked from rare to well done. I ordered mine medium rare. Complete with fries it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, served on a brioche bun with fixings on the side so that you can tailor your burger to preference. All food (other than the salad) was piping hot. The burger was so delicious, I also ordered it on the second evening. No disappointment here… once again, it was consistently impeccable. During our second visit, we also ordered the battered calamari. Again, lightly breaded served over greens with another very flavourful aioli sauce and cooked to a delicate exactness. We also ordered the mushroom ravioli, which was served in a delectable creamy, bechamel sauce. Portions were perfect. All in all… an awesome and impressive dining experience. Well done folks and thank you! We will be back. Quoting a onetime TV show… “You gotta’ eat here!” Phil and Wendy H. (London, Ontario)“

“Went there for a Sunday brunch menu, food was delicious. However, one of the people in my party had asked for half salad half tater tot. It came with full tater tot and then when we requested the half salad, none came. Naturally, it didn’t stop us from enjoying our meal just something small that was overlooked that could easily be fixed.
Still highly recommend this place for an enjoyable atmosphere and delicious food and good cocktails“

“The Thai red curry was just amazing, reminds me of my trip to Chiang Mai. The seafood pasta with mussels was also great. All made in house. Rare find in area. Great craft beer. A hidden gem from all the places in the area that serve basic chicken wings and deep fried offerings. The entrance is not desirable, but was told the entrance is being renovated.“

“I loved this pub so much I got married here! We had a small ceremony (20 people) on the dreamy back patio and a medium reception (55 people) on the upper floors. Steve and his staff were a dream to work with. I won't get into all the details but it was like working with a proper wedding planning team with the benefit (and cost!) of a casual, cozy pub wedding. Everyone raved about the food and the staff.“

“This is by far my favourite restaurant in the city. My wife and I come here every quarter because we love the food, the atmosphere and the servers. If you’re searching for a great date night spot in the city, this is it.
Nicki has become a favourite of ours and we always have a good laugh with her.“

“I had a wonderful experience at a Ukrainian restaurant in Etobicoke. It’s a very cozy place with a warm, homely atmosphere — it really feels like stepping into a traditional Ukrainian home. The interior is beautifully decorated and tasteful, and you can immediately feel the hospitality.
The food was delicious — everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and authentically Ukrainian. We especially loved the honey cake (medivnyk): it was soft, fragrant, and literally melted in the mouth. It’s definitely a must-try!
Overall, it’s a very pleasant place with great food and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. The service, food, and ambiance all left a very positive impression.“

“We’re regulars at The Commoner because the food is consistently good and they’re genuinely welcoming to families. This visit tested that, and they passed.
We’d booked for eight, then grew the party to twelve for the Canada World Cup match. They’d warned us ahead of time that seating all twelve together might not be possible, and when we arrived we were split between a table of eight and one across the room. I was disappointed as we’d come to watch the game together.
But once the manager understood how much it mattered, she rearranged another table so all twelve of us could sit together. That changed our whole evening. We watched the game, the kids had a blast, and everyone left happy.
What stuck with me wasn’t that everything went perfectly. It's that when we were at an impasse, they listened and went above and beyond. That’s why we keep coming back, and why a night that could have fallen flat became one we’ll remember. Thank you to the whole Commoner team.“

“We had a group lunch for 40+ people, including adults, teens and kids. The staff were attentive, kind and super flexible, even with the inevitable spill. I'd love to go back to a regular dinner when we get the chance and enjoy some of the other food. Really appreciate the accessible washrooms as well.“

“We have been coming here for 20 years. Either on the weekdays or the weekends, everything and everyone at The Rebel House is just pure perfection. The kitchen is tiny but they churn out the best comfort food. The drinks are always fresh and the staff is always so welcoming. You have to become a regular here!“
“The Paddock has been around for decades and is one of the best dive bars. It was slated to close after Covid but the landlord let them sign a new lease. They made it bigger by knocking out a wall at the back and that is where they have renovated the place to put a stage there for the live music. Prices are not bad, staff are great and the place has a really good feel to it. Glad to see it is staying around for a while longer“

“Had a great night out at Axis Gallery & Grill! The highlight of the evening was the live music by Brandon Gregory. His solo acoustic performance was absolutely amazing and created a fantastic atmosphere. Great entertainment, good vibes, and a memorable experience. “Went for Winterlicious lunch. Great food, attentive service. Clean, light filled space on a freezung cold day. Had momos for appetizer, salmon on a bed of tomato lentils for the main course, and creme brulee for dessert. Hot chocolate with whipped cream was perfect for a cold day. I recommend this place, and will go again.“
