“Had a nice visit here for a few bites and drinks. I’ve been to Imanishi maybe three or so times now over the years and glad to see they’re still going strong and getting lots of love from the city.

Had the Mackerel dish which was my favourite out of the ones we tried. One order comes with two pieces, so it’s good for sharing. I liked that you could eat everything, including the bones. The fish was cooked well and I really liked the glaze/ sauce which was sweet and complimented the saltiness with the fish.

The corn was crispy and flavourful. They’re cased in these fried bubbles that pop air while you’re crunching into them and help boost the flavour in my opinion. It was seasoned well, but I think it would have been interesting with some kind of cheese component or something else to add another dimension to it.

We also tried the chicken karaage which tasted like most that I’ve had before at other places. I was not particularly a fan of the sauce which had a strong vinegar taste to it. Also generally not a fan of mayo. Overall, the dish, which used dark meat, felt greasy to me and heavy with the sauce but the acid from the vinegar being too harsh.

“I stopped by one afternoon with my mother for a little nibble and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Torched Salmonand Traffic Light rolls, and they were so fantastic that we came back the very next day for more.

The pieces are generous in size, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor. The service was outstanding—everyone was so friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better.

The atmosphere is a little rundown and the space is small, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for delicious sushi at a great value.“

“Very friendly service and very generous portions. The takeout packaging was so cute and everyone enjoyed their orders. I ordered Sushi Combo B (with substitutions for shellfish), Roll Platter S, Hash avocado roll and veggie spring rolls, for 5 people. The sushi is affordable but still tastes fresh! Definitely would go back to try their other veggie options.

“Had an amazing omakase experience at Sushi Kiwami. Every course was thoughtfully prepared, and you could really tell the chef paid attention to every detail. The seafood was incredibly fresh, with each piece highlighting the natural flavor of the fish rather than relying on heavy seasoning.

Some of my favorites were the beautifully scored squid, the rich uni and crab course, and the perfectly balanced nigiri throughout the meal. The sake pairing was also excellent and complemented the progression of the courses very well.

The atmosphere was calm and intimate, and the service struck a great balance between being attentive and letting you enjoy the meal at your own pace. Overall, one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in Toronto. Definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for high-quality Edomae sushi.“

“The BOGO deal for salmon sashimi on Sunday is fantastic - super thick cuts of fatty salmon! I think their rolls were pretty mid tho.

They also have karaoke booths in the back (priced base on room size) that are paid per hour, and separate from the dining bill.“

“Oji Seichi has been on my radar for quite some time, and I finally decided to pull the trigger when they offered a Summerlicious lunch menu. We started with the Harumaki pork and vegetable spring rolls, which were crispy, well filled, and not greasy at all, a great way to begin the meal.

For the main, I had the Shio Chicken Ramen. Since it's a shio ramen, don't expect an intensely rich broth, but it was clean, balanced, and let the other ingredients shine. The house made noodles had a fantastic texture, the chicken was incredibly tender with a delicious smoky flavour, and I appreciated that they served a whole onsen egg instead of just half.

To finish, we had the miso caramel soft serve and the strawberry shortcake, both of which were a sweet ending to the meal.

The service was attentive throughout, and I'm glad I finally got to check this spot off my list. Worth a visit if you're looking for quality house made ramen.“

“Great chicken broth ramen, rich in taste and texture. It was probably the best one I've had in Toronto. We also had their yam ice cream which was a little on the heavy side, not sure if the yam completslt complemented the ice cream but it was an interesting combo.

“Amazing food! Great cozy place to go to! A hidden pearl in the centre of Toronto! Make sure you hgo in time, because the seats are limited. Only disadvantage is the smell of your clothes due to the open kitchen. Food so cheap and so yummy! I would definitely go again when I visit Toronto again. Make sure you order the Japanese omelette wit shaved tuna on top! The Tuna comes with supplement but is so worth it! The staff is down to earth and very friendly and helpfull!
