“I stopped by one afternoon with my mother for a little nibble and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Torched Salmonand Traffic Light rolls, and they were so fantastic that we came back the very next day for more.

The pieces are generous in size, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor. The service was outstanding—everyone was so friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better.

“My favourite omakase in Toronto!!! The menu’s variety — you get many textures, flavours, cooking styles (grilled, raw, broiled, tempura, rice etc.). That keeps things interesting. Kappo Sato feels like a restaurant where love for Japanese food and craft really shows. Really love this place❤️“

“This place is my favourite “hidden” gem. It is my go to take out place, for fast service, great portions, and incredible food. The salmon donburi bowl is my favourite thing to order, it comes with a delicious miso soup! I have also had the chicken teriyaki bowl, but it’s only alright. Extra sides (kimchi, seaweed salad) come in small portions but pretty expensive. Good, but not worth it in my opinion.“

“We had such a wonderful meal at Oji Seichi, and honestly, everything about the experience was top notch. From the moment you walk in, you can tell how thoughtfully the entire place has been curated. The space is beautifully aesthetic, with a distinctly Japanese feel, and even the little details throughout the restaurant make it feel like so much more than just a place to grab a meal.

They also have an amazing selection of restaurant merchandise and gift bags, along with frozen items you can take home and make yourself, including gyoza and noodles. There are also bottles of chili oil and different sauces, which made it very tempting to stock up before leaving!

The staff were incredible—so friendly, attentive and genuinely excited to chat with us about the menu. They walked us through their process, shared recommendations and explained some of their speciality items, which made the whole experience feel really personal.

We started with the chicken katsu sandwich, which was absolutely delightful. The dankatsu sauce was tangy and salty, the cabbage was shredded super thin, and the pickled daikon added the perfect crunchy, slightly acidic bite. The steamed bun was fluffy and soft and brought everything together perfectly. We added fries to the sandwich, which came with their nori ranch—a really fun twist on a traditional ranch. It had so much flavour, and you can tell their sauces are made in-house.

The standout for me, though, was the spicy sesame ramen. It started as a seasonal special but was so popular that they ended up putting it on the permanent menu—and for very good reason. The broth was incredibly rich and flavourful with the perfect amount of spice. It had a real kick, but it wasn’t so spicy that you couldn’t actually enjoy the flavours. The noodles were chewy, fresh and had exactly the right texture. The pork belly practically fell apart and had this beautiful grilled flavour, while the egg was perfectly jammy in the middle—exactly what you want in a bowl of ramen.

You can tell that every component here has been carefully considered, from the food and sauces to the atmosphere and the service. Nothing feels like an afterthought, and that attention to detail really comes through.

They even have a loyalty program where your 11th ramen is free, which is dangerous because I will absolutely be taking advantage of that!

I’ll definitely be going back again and again—not just for the delicious food, but also because the staff were so warm and fun to chat with. Oji Seichi is one of those places where you leave already thinking about what you’re going to order next time. Absolutely loved it!“

“Amazing food! Great cozy place to go to! A hidden pearl in the centre of Toronto! Make sure you hgo in time, because the seats are limited. Only disadvantage is the smell of your clothes due to the open kitchen. Food so cheap and so yummy! I would definitely go again when I visit Toronto again. Make sure you order the Japanese omelette wit shaved tuna on top! The Tuna comes with supplement but is so worth it! The staff is down to earth and very friendly and helpfull!
