“Literally a hidden gem since no one really talks or post about it on social media. Spontaneously walked into TAKI Japanese Cuisine for dinner one weekend, and we were so thankful that they were able to take the 2 of us in for omakase dinner at the bar!

They took over the same space as Rin Sushi with the same decor and same layout. The waitresses who served us that evening wore traditional Japanese kimonos; the chef and staff all spoke in Japanese. Food and service were amazing!

“We were craving good tonkatsu and Cotolet nailed it for us! We have been here many times and have not been disappointed with their consistency of making good tonkatsu each time :)

The pork loin with brown demi-glace sauce was awesome! It was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. Would recommend asking for the demi-glace sauce on the side so that you can dip the pork loin into the sauce and have the crispiness with eat bite versus the sauce making the pork loin soggy over time.

The okonomiyaki was light and delicious. It’s worth getting if you are looking for something light.

The soy garlic chicken karaage was delicious. It had the perfect combo of crispiness and savouriness :) It was so good that we forgot to take a picture.“

“Had an excellent experience with Shinta today, specially for the services as the servers staffs were attentive and kind.(it was an Sunday busy but we felt like we had our own servers which is excellent!)They kept our table clean and change the grill very frequently. The second thing is that I loved the food here! They were delicious! my favorite dishes was the rack of lamb and the short rib! Definitely coming back again!!!!“

“I’ve been to ATO countless times, starting from when they first opened. Their service has always been excellent, and the Japanese sushi chef pays close attention to each guest. When they first opened, they even gave us some extra sushi with the omakase. For a while, their omakase menu price went up significantly, but it didn’t impress me more, so I felt the value wasn’t great and went less often. Recently, though, I’ve given it a few more tries, and now the menu is back to under $100 per person, featuring premium ingredients like toro and uni. Even the dessert is crown melon. I have to say, it’s a top-notch value!“

“I’ve been enjoying eating here for many years. The food is always fresh and beautifully presented. Last night was a horrible experience with the manager being totally unhelpful or accommodating. Her name is Chloe. I’ve never met her nor have I ever had such a disappointing experience. My friend will not be returning because of the poor attitude and lack of customer satisfaction. I usually go at lunchtime and have enjoyed not only the food but the excellent customer service from Karen.
I also take advantage of the 10% discount by paying cash.
Chloe refused to accept this by saying it only applies to over $50. My bill was $30.
So I paid by credit card.
I wonder if there’s been a change in management.
The food and choices are wonderful but the manager doesn’t seem to care about service.

“LOVE Sapporo sushi!! I feel like this store is so hidden that it's an easy miss, but if you're ever looking for a sushi shop with delicious rolls I highly recommend! First time coming I ordered the Salmon Magic Roll (not pictured) and the roll was stuffed with filling and so saucy and yummy, different than any other salmon rolls I've had in the past. I've also tried their dinner special that comes with a hand roll and it was also very good! Service was also so friendly and staff were super attentive. Would definitely recommend!!“

Kid-friendliness: Udon and Don-katsu is great selection for kids. As it is located in a foodcourt, lots of other selection for kids as well.

“Awesome place. I haven't had celiac friendly sushi for a very long time. I am very sensitive and get really sick if I eat any gluten or even something cross-contaminated. Tomo Japanese Restaurant was a great experience in terms of food, service, atmosphere, and above all safety for me and my son. People with Celiac and NCGS, Tomo is a really nice place with safe gluten-free food, highly recommended. :)“

“Great authentic Japanese place if you're craving sushi. We got 2 lunch sets, a long with some hand rolls, and they were all delicious. Aside from the sushi, the tempura was fried perfectly - good colour and it was light and crispy. Service was great, although the prices were a bit higher than other Japanese restaurants. However the quality was there and we will definitely visit again for dinner.“

“Had a great experience at this sushi spot! The sashimi and maki were delicious, and the sushi portions were impressively large. However, I would have liked a bit more meat in the sushi—there was more cucumber and veggies than expected, but it still tasted great. The atmosphere is really nice and cool, with some seating areas offering shades or curtains for a bit of privacy, which was a nice touch.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, though we had to ask a couple of times for more wasabi and ginger as they brought very little initially. Overall, the quality and price of the sushi were excellent, and with plenty of parking nearby, it's definitely worth a repeat visit. I'd recommend booking ahead, as it's a popular spot!“

“It was amazing service and food. Love the cool cherry blossom tree. It was a perfect atmosphere for my date night. The Okinawa breeze cocktail was so refreshing and a nice amount of citrus. As well, definitely recommend Bakudan sushi roll and aburi sushi.“

So I decided to make a visit.We ordered Miyabi set for two, which came with salad, steamed egg(which I love), assorted sushi and sashimi, ice cream for dessert.Food serving is very slow. You need to be very patient. But yes, it's really fresh and feels like you are invited to a Japanese house for lunch. Our tea was refilled every 10 minutes. I would go again when I'm not in a rush or take out next time.“

It degrades the otherwise pleasant atmosphere, and when the delivery agents are using a bicycle, the noisy cyclist shoes are a further distraction.“

They filled the insulated bag with ice, so I went home after shopping and it wasn't melted at all. I shared it with my husband today, but from next time we each decided to have one shaved ice.“

“Everything I’ve had from here is delicious, but my favourite is surprisingly the Japanese egg salad sandwich - it’s to die for. Light, fluffy, and the perfect little lunch. Never thought I would say that about egg salad haha but I think about them all the time and it keeps me coming back. All the deserts are lovely as well if you are looking for a treat. Service is always prompt and friendly. Hidden Hillcrest gem, tucked away in a little corner by the bay.“
