“Treat yourself to a warm sushi hug.

We’d been to Hug Sushi’s OG location years ago and finally tried this dine-in spot. Now I wish we’d come sooner! The all-you-can-eat dinner features their well-balanced house special sushi and are decently small allowing you to try more variety.

We enjoyed the hug roll (a salmon avocado roll topped w/ torched salmon + ikura), the crazy roll (with a mound of crabmeat), a BBQ eel roll and even a honey mustard roll for fun that somehow works. Other good picks were the spider roll featuring soft shell crab and the scallop sushi. The sashimi here is thick cut like it should be so you can taste real fresh umami flavours.

We were too intrigued by their sushi selection to try much else. However, grilled shrimp skewers were crisp & well-seasoned and the mango shrimp & salmon salads were refreshing starters. Tempuras were decent as well. For dessert, they have mango sago and deep fried milk which is rare for AYCE sushi but matches another good nearby spot in Maple. Everything arrived quickly.

So what’s the verdict? We’ll definitely be back again at Hug Sushi. Just overlook the lack of interior tidiness and you’re bound to enjoy too!“

“We love this sushi spot! Every order is fresh, beautifully packaged, and you can really taste the care and passion in every bite. We order here often—as you can see from the collection of photos I’ve amassed—and I can honestly say they’ve been consistent every single time. Their wasabi is made fresh, just like their sushi.

Our daughter has been eating sashimi since she was two, and I’ve never had any concerns about the quality of the fish from this place. Her absolute favorite is the salmon ikura don, and she also loves the little octopus in one of the Inari pockets. We order so often that they even know our usual takeout (D2 and S5, with the occasional Inari Gunkan), and they recognize it instantly when my husband calls in. We’ve dined in a couple of times as well, and the staff are so friendly and warm that we felt right at home.

After a long week, it’s our go-to Friday treat. It’s always a joy to bring their sushi home, and it feels like a little bit of love is packed into every box.“

“Food and service here is amazing. The owner came out to talk to us, and he was very friendly and accommodating. Since it was Chinese new year, he personally made us a vegan claypot rice (not on the menu) which turned out to be very smokey and flavour rich, in spite of our multitude of Chinese new year dietary restrictions (no eggs, no garlic, no onions, light oil, etc. ). That soy sauce that came with it was something special.

The sashimi was large, and very fresh. Very happy with the portions. As was the edamame and seaweed salad. The miso soup was not too salty, and you could taste the dashi and a hint of sweetness. It was good.

The Eel dragon roll came with not too much rice (forgot to take a picture because of how fast I ate it), but was very good and had a good ratio of avocado, shrimp, and eel.

“I had a wonderful experience at EDO Japan Vaughan Mills!! I was helped by Joban. She was friendly and was very helpful with my order! I had a slight issue and she immediately solved it with a smile on her face. She was also nice to my kids.
