“Treat yourself to a warm sushi hug.

We’d been to Hug Sushi’s OG location years ago and finally tried this dine-in spot. Now I wish we’d come sooner! The all-you-can-eat dinner features their well-balanced house special sushi and are decently small allowing you to try more variety.

We enjoyed the hug roll (a salmon avocado roll topped w/ torched salmon + ikura), the crazy roll (with a mound of crabmeat), a BBQ eel roll and even a honey mustard roll for fun that somehow works. Other good picks were the spider roll featuring soft shell crab and the scallop sushi. The sashimi here is thick cut like it should be so you can taste real fresh umami flavours.

We were too intrigued by their sushi selection to try much else. However, grilled shrimp skewers were crisp & well-seasoned and the mango shrimp & salmon salads were refreshing starters. Tempuras were decent as well. For dessert, they have mango sago and deep fried milk which is rare for AYCE sushi but matches another good nearby spot in Maple. Everything arrived quickly.

So what’s the verdict? We’ll definitely be back again at Hug Sushi. Just overlook the lack of interior tidiness and you’re bound to enjoy too!“

I had a slight issue and she immediately solved it with a smile on her face. She was also nice to my kids. “The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.“

“Jun - the owner, chef and server was Awesome!! Explained each dish as they were served, with detail on fish, preparation (smoked, cured, aged), fish cut, fish origin location etc.. very complete Omakase and ended the meal with delicious ube ice cream!! “I came here for lunch with my coworkers and we shared a tasting box plus a few rolls on the side.

I don’t eat cucumber, so I specifically asked for no cucumber in our order and was told it could be swapped with avocado, which I really appreciated.

We were also informed it would take about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 40–45 minutes due to the lunchtime rush. Totally understandable though, and the manager was very apologetic and even gave us a $5 coupon for our next visit along with our box.

When the food arrived, the presentation of the tasting box was absolutely WOW.. it was so beautifully done. We were honestly just too hungry at that point to admire it for long.

Unfortunately, I noticed the first roll I picked still had cucumber in it, and when we flagged it, the staff immediately looked into it. It turned out there was a miscommunication about the substitution, and most of the rolls in the box had cucumber. The manager personally came over, apologized, explained everything, and immediately took care of it by offering to remake the box without cucumber and providing a full refund, which really went above and beyond.

Despite the hiccup, the service and care from the team really stood out. Mistakes happen, especially during busy lunch hours, but the way the team responded made a big difference. I’d definitely come back again.“

And if you like spicy also get the “taco wasabi” but its packed with wasabi flavour so take it as warning. Amazing non the less.

“One of my favourite places in my neighbourhood. I frequent here a lot, and the woman who works there always remembers my order! It's nice to be remembered. Favourites would have to be the Agedashi Tofu, Crazy Boy roll and the Black Buster roll. ❤️“

“Good place, a tad expensive even for all you can eat. Giving Atmosphere 4 stars because ive gotten dirty dishes a handful of times that ive gone. Thr service is good but will take a while if you go during the busy period. The drinks arent that good but heavily outweighsd by the food quality!“

“This is a great mom and pop shop. Very good in their customer service and you can feel the care they provide for their customers. The food is yummy and well presented. This area has no seating and washrooms. Their business style is to churn out as much sushi as possible for an affordable price. They got some specials as well.

“This was our first time at Takumi and we are pretty happy with this place. We order a platter and tempura appy. The restaurant didn’t look busy but there were a lot orders coming in for delivery or pick up. The platter took longer than we hoped but it is Friday night. We have been noticing that orders coming in take precedent over orders taken from customers dining in.
Overall, the fish was very fresh and the sashimi was cut generously. We enjoyed ourselves and will probably come back.“

“This is a hidden gem located in the Farmer’s market. I believe they have two locations. One is a restaurant and this one is a to go spot. Highly recommend coming to the to go spot. The owners were there when I ordered and the sushi/sashimi was very fresh. I did go in the morning close to lunch so maybe that’s a factor. Prices are very good if you pay by cash as well! Not to mention the portions were amazing! I did go to the restaurant location but was disappointed. There were different people working in the kitchen and restaurant front so I’d say stick to the hidden gem to go spot located at the Farmer’s market when the owners are around. The lady is also very nice and sweet!“

“My first experience at Paper Crane was rather mediocre- service was fine but the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls were not to my liking and I found the menu's prices overall to be quite expensive. I had high expectations but left feeling disappointed.... I'm glad I gave this spot another chance! During my most recent visit, the staff were considerate, and the house spicy roll was delicious. Their house-made spicy sauce had such a great depth of flavour to it! The restaurant itself was clean and I really admired the little ceramic paper cranes meant to hold chopsticks. This was a much better experience, and I now look forward to returning a third time!“

“I was a bit disappointed when eating the food at Taro's fish. I heard good things about the quality, but was underwhelmed by some of their items. The rice from the freshly made rolls were very overwatered to the point that it was sticky.

We ordered the spicy salmon roll, spicy scallop roll, and chirashi bowl. The chirashi bowl was good and the fish tasted fresh. I thought both rolls were underwhelming as the rice was very sticky and the lettuce inside was overpowering the fish.

I would consider coming back to just get the fish but I would not recommend their rolls.“

“Hidden gem for most, but popular for the locals. I love the salmon sushi and chicken katsu don here, the sushi is bigger than most Ive had and they really pack on the rice for the don. Always order ahead of time as its takeout only, staff is always friendly, efficient and always pick up the phone. I do hope in the future they open indoor dining!“

Sometimes they have some prepared in advance in the fridge. If you need a large order call them in advance. You can also order and wait for your takeout order.
They have a lot of prepared food there. There is also a meat section (kosher).
If you need produce, you'll have to shop elsewhere.“
