“Came in on a Tuesday around 4:00 PM for their daily special and was super impressed! We got the chicken teriyaki special for $18.99, which was a great bang for your buck. For two people, the total came out to just around $40. Service was quick and efficient, especially during the weekday afternoon slump. We’ll definitely be back to try more!“

Fresh and super high quality sushi and the sashimi is flavourful and nicely thick cut, unlike many other sushi places that pad their combo sizes with thin sashimi cuts. Service was excellent and the environment was cozy yet still private.“

“I visited this restaurant because of their anime-inspired menu, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The chicken ramen was incredibly savory, with a rich and flavorful broth. The beef bento was a feast for the eyes, with two sides and a mix of great elements. I also tried the Tokyo fried chicken, which was delicious. But the real highlight was the Taro bubble tea - arguably one of the best I've ever had. Guleen, was very nice and helpful, explaining everything on the menu, including their summer sale on bubble tea.“

“We came on a weekday night and it was pretty busy. We only waited a few minutes to get a table. After ordering, we got our soup and salad pretty quickly but waited longer for our main dishes, and even longer for our dessert. The food was ok. My husband found the seaweed in his hand roll and maki roll too soft, and I found the salmon to be a bit dense. The other sushi were average. Then the dessert, my husband liked his fried bananas, but I found the sticky rice with mango to be too sweet and the mango pieces were not ripe. The service was slow but we can understand why--it's been a busy night. The staff were nice but very busy catering to bigger tables. Despite all this, we did enjoy our time.“

“Things started out great. It just got a little disappointing when a long hair was found in the rice on a plate of one the members of our group.
It was immediately brought to the attention of the server who just proceeded to scrape the remaining rice onto a clean plate and re serve it.
No discount on the bill was offered and no apologies provided.

It was so surprising, the girl at the front stated they dont give anything away but could see that I needed a picker-upper, and let me tell you she was and is so right. We were there due to having such a heavy and rough day that we didn't want to bother cooking. So we decided on sushi. Thank you to the young lady at the front, you made our evening. “The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.“

“I came here for lunch with my coworkers and we shared a tasting box plus a few rolls on the side.

I don’t eat cucumber, so I specifically asked for no cucumber in our order and was told it could be swapped with avocado, which I really appreciated.

We were also informed it would take about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 40–45 minutes due to the lunchtime rush. Totally understandable though, and the manager was very apologetic and even gave us a $5 coupon for our next visit along with our box.

When the food arrived, the presentation of the tasting box was absolutely WOW.. it was so beautifully done. We were honestly just too hungry at that point to admire it for long.

Unfortunately, I noticed the first roll I picked still had cucumber in it, and when we flagged it, the staff immediately looked into it. It turned out there was a miscommunication about the substitution, and most of the rolls in the box had cucumber. The manager personally came over, apologized, explained everything, and immediately took care of it by offering to remake the box without cucumber and providing a full refund, which really went above and beyond.

Despite the hiccup, the service and care from the team really stood out. Mistakes happen, especially during busy lunch hours, but the way the team responded made a big difference. I’d definitely come back again.“

“I am posting this review as a direct counter argument to the negative one star review below mine that will appear in recency. I was a separate customer there at the time ordering with a friend of mine waiting for our food when the woman’s mother in question stormed in, immediately started acting rude and speaking loudly towards the woman at the front and thereafter the chef whom she was berating.

The woman asked “would you feed this to your family” and he immediately replied yes, I would eat it myself and she asked him to and he did it immediately as if to try and get him to agree that the fish was “bad”. The lady had complained that her stomach was already hurting after eating the one piece of sushi and if anyone knows anything about stomach problems, you won’t know immediately after eating it. It takes at least a few minutes. The woman demanded a refund and said she would never come back again. The chef in question was not argumentative at all and he barely even spoke and most certainly was not rude and did not raise his voice (he barely had the time to talk because the woman wouldn’t stop talking over him). The food at Kibo is some of the best sushi I have had in Ontario plain and simple. Most sushi tastes bland and there’s actual taste to their food. I would not let a disgruntled woman’s opinion dictate whether or not you should eat some place considering she was just dissatisfied once in her life she was taking it on a person who made her food. Kibo is great, highly recommend. The staff are always nice and they are very quick with the process often beating out the set time they say for how long it will take to make the food.“

“This is a hidden gem located in the Farmer’s market. I believe they have two locations. One is a restaurant and this one is a to go spot. Highly recommend coming to the to go spot. The owners were there when I ordered and the sushi/sashimi was very fresh. I did go in the morning close to lunch so maybe that’s a factor. Prices are very good if you pay by cash as well! Not to mention the portions were amazing! I did go to the restaurant location but was disappointed. There were different people working in the kitchen and restaurant front so I’d say stick to the hidden gem to go spot located at the Farmer’s market when the owners are around. Tomo Japanese Restaurant was a great experience in terms of food, service, atmosphere, and above all safety for me and my son.
