“My first experience at Paper Crane was rather mediocre- service was fine but the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls were not to my liking and I found the menu's prices overall to be quite expensive. I had high expectations but left feeling disappointed.... I'm glad I gave this spot another chance! During my most recent visit, the staff were considerate, and the house spicy roll was delicious. Their house-made spicy sauce had such a great depth of flavour to it! The restaurant itself was clean and I really admired the little ceramic paper cranes meant to hold chopsticks. This was a much better experience, and I now look forward to returning a third time!“

“The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.“

“Treat yourself to a warm sushi hug.

We’d been to Hug Sushi’s OG location years ago and finally tried this dine-in spot. Now I wish we’d come sooner! The all-you-can-eat dinner features their well-balanced house special sushi and are decently small allowing you to try more variety.

We enjoyed the hug roll (a salmon avocado roll topped w/ torched salmon + ikura), the crazy roll (with a mound of crabmeat), a BBQ eel roll and even a honey mustard roll for fun that somehow works. Other good picks were the spider roll featuring soft shell crab and the scallop sushi. The sashimi here is thick cut like it should be so you can taste real fresh umami flavours.

We were too intrigued by their sushi selection to try much else. However, grilled shrimp skewers were crisp & well-seasoned and the mango shrimp & salmon salads were refreshing starters. Tempuras were decent as well. For dessert, they have mango sago and deep fried milk which is rare for AYCE sushi but matches another good nearby spot in Maple. Everything arrived quickly.

So what’s the verdict? We’ll definitely be back again at Hug Sushi. Just overlook the lack of interior tidiness and you’re bound to enjoy too!“

“I came here for lunch with my coworkers and we shared a tasting box plus a few rolls on the side.

I don’t eat cucumber, so I specifically asked for no cucumber in our order and was told it could be swapped with avocado, which I really appreciated.

We were also informed it would take about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 40–45 minutes due to the lunchtime rush. Totally understandable though, and the manager was very apologetic and even gave us a $5 coupon for our next visit along with our box.

When the food arrived, the presentation of the tasting box was absolutely WOW.. it was so beautifully done. We were honestly just too hungry at that point to admire it for long.

Unfortunately, I noticed the first roll I picked still had cucumber in it, and when we flagged it, the staff immediately looked into it. It turned out there was a miscommunication about the substitution, and most of the rolls in the box had cucumber. The manager personally came over, apologized, explained everything, and immediately took care of it by offering to remake the box without cucumber and providing a full refund, which really went above and beyond.

Despite the hiccup, the service and care from the team really stood out. Mistakes happen, especially during busy lunch hours, but the way the team responded made a big difference. I’d definitely come back again.“

“Really enjoyed the food here! I had the spicy bulgogi bento box and my husband ordered the teokbokki and assorted sushi. Everything tasted great from the tea, to the salad, to the soup, to the mains. I usually don't comment on the tea, soup and salad, but when you've had bad food elsewhere, you really appreciate good food.
The service was great, and the restaurant was decorated nicely with nice tall, tufted, booths.
I ordered the mango Japanese cheesecake for dessert. It tasted good as expected, but I probably wouldn't order it again because it was a pretty small slice, and I could get a whole cheesecake from a nearby bakery.“

“Delicious sashimi! The salmon is melt in your mouth. I loved the torched mixed fish option, tasty. The crispy chicken is superb. The chunks of chicken are large the batter is very crispy and the dipping sauce is creamy and satisfying. I will order from this place again. I didn’t remember until we were almost done eating that I wanted to take some pictures. This only usually happens when the food is so aesthetically pleasing that I forget to take my camera out and take a picture before I start gobbling it up. I can’t comment on the service or the atmosphere because I ordered the food to be delivered.“

“This is a hidden gem located in the Farmer’s market. I believe they have two locations. One is a restaurant and this one is a to go spot. Highly recommend coming to the to go spot. The owners were there when I ordered and the sushi/sashimi was very fresh. I did go in the morning close to lunch so maybe that’s a factor. Prices are very good if you pay by cash as well! Not to mention the portions were amazing! I did go to the restaurant location but was disappointed. There were different people working in the kitchen and restaurant front so I’d say stick to the hidden gem to go spot located at the Farmer’s market when the owners are around. The lady is also very nice and sweet!“
