“I quite like this sushi takeaway shop. I'm not saying its quality is out of the world, but the sushi and sashimi are pretty good compared to those Japanese/Korean restaurants (I've had really disappointing experience). Salmon Lover: salmon sashimi, salmon nigiri and spicy salmon roll. Salmon was so fatty and fresh, and super thick!!Green Dragon Roll: Dynamic roll with avo on top. I'd say the shrimp tempura was thinly battered. It's creamy and slightly crunchy. I quite like it!Overall I'm not disappointed at all. I'm impressed that it's of good quality. I definitely want to try their sushi party tray.“
“I often go here for sushi and rolls because it's good. Today, I had Korean Kimbap for the first time.I loved the colours and it was so delicious! I was full after eating 10 pieces of Kimbap. All kind of kimbap are on 15% sale. Can't wait to try other kimbap menus next time!“
“Hibiki sashimi is our favorite post-Unionville trail walk treat to ourselves. They honestly serve the best sashimi cuts in GTA. We always end up disappointed when we get sashimi from a different place since we've been spoiled by Hibiki's quality. Toro toro maki and black cod misozuke are other dishes that we've order in the past and really enjoyed!“
“Super quick service, newly renovated and ayce sushi. Came with a reservation and was seated promptly. The interior of this place is newly renovated from what it was before and it's quite nice! You order from ipads and the food comes out at lightning speed. There's also a cold apps/ salad bar that is self serve, along with some soup and dessert. Ayce dinner during the weekday is $39.99 per adult. The menu is huge with lots of options to pick from, ranging from raw to cooked. Some of the items I liked were: - Ichiban roll - Assortment of sashimi - Takoyaki - Steamed egg - Garlic beef cubes - Roasted wings - Kalbi - Grilled mackerel You can expect the food here to be your typical ayce quality. It still hits the spot though, so give it a try. Great for large parties. Service was 5/5 as our server was super enthusiastic and chatty with our table. Would visit again!“
“The atmosphere was calm and chill . But the main part was the food . it was amazing we tried the salmon avado sushi pizza I recommend you to try it .with dessert its going the best food ever and also the service was amazingthe food Is from heaven ?? ?“
“My first time going here and what a treat. This boutique sushi spot popped up top rated and it’s no surprise why. I found out they’ve been here almost 25 years at the same location. The most humble couple are the original owners and were so kind and pleasant to speak with. Fresh food, warm vibes, and amazing service will have me back here again!“
“What can i say, a magical place with incredible staff. Who will always be there for you in a heartbeat. Not to mention mouth watering food that touches both your heart and has the stomach saying thanks. All and all its a gem which you must come and try.“
“A lunch experience to remember! My wife and I went to Sushi Gin to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful experience. It was difficult to find a sushi restaurant that served lunch omakses so I’m lucky to have found Sushi Gin. The décor, service, and food were all sublime and top notch. We ordered the lunch Omakase which comes with 7 dishes. Highlights were:Décor – Japanese minimalism / zen-like interior that was simple, orderly, uncluttered, and sleek. There are no individual tables other than the wrap around table surrounding the sushi bar which makes for an intimate experience. I loved the double-sided chop sticks, the cutlery, and the display of sushi knives just in front of us.Service – I must apologize for not asking for names but the servers were kind, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Upon arrival, we were nicely greeted and taken to our seats. They pulled out / pushed in our chairs and helped us put our coats on the back of the chairs. Tea was always topped up before we needed to ask, dishes were explained, and were always there to answer questions of any nature. I also noticed that our main server walked around and ensured that the utensils and chairs were perfectly aligned when not servicing the customers. Top notch. The same amazing service can be said for our chef who prepared each of the sushi related dishes right in front of us with his amazing skills. He explained each piece of nigiri and answered all our questions with patience and experience.Food – All 7 courses were delicious. The miso soup was light and seemed to have a fish type broth (very nice). The salad was the right temperature (not overtly cold like other restaurants) and excellently paired with potato salad to give it a creamier texture. The fried octopus appetizer was one of my favorites as it had perfect crispness and seasoned to perfection. The Chawanmushi was a first for me and I loved it. Besides the excellent taste, I also loved the small spoon that came with it. As for the sushi, the chef expertly created 10 pieces of Nigiri one-by-one with some of the following fish: Kinmedai, kampachi, salmon, akami, otoro, and uni. The nigiri was paired with their house made picked ginger which was refreshing. Loved how the chef brushed the house made soy sauce onto the sushi rice prior to serving them on our plates to ensure optimal soy sauce to rice ratio. The hand roll was next and was filled with diced otoro - Yum! The dessert was Tamago and I enjoyed it quite a bit considering it wasn’t overtly sweet, like many are. Finally, as a special surprise, they served us a delicious chocolate cake plus a cheesecake mousse. Thank you for the kind birthday gesture.Upon leaving the restaurant, they helped with our chairs and coats again, while opening the doors for us on the way out. Impeccable service and food Sushi Gin. Thank you for a memorable omakase and we will be back!Dietary restrictions: Feel free to tell them about any dietary restrictions as they are very accommodating.“
“We recently dined at Fujisan Japanese restaurant and had an amazing experience. The food was exceptional, with a variety of delicious sushi options, including some torched sushi that was real tempting. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. What really stood out to me was the quick and efficient service, which added to the overall pleasant vibe of the restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, almost like being in an authentic Japanese home.If you're looking for a restaurant with great food, friendly staff, great value and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend Fujisan Japanese restaurant. I will definitely be returning!“
“First ever omakase experience and it did not disappoint. Favourite part was most definitely the sushi round which served individual pieces at a time to patrons. Each sushi was unique to its own with specific ingredients procured from different regions of the world. Time passed by too quickly as I could’ve eaten more. Given the process of serving food, dining etiquette was at first confusing for a first time noob like myself but I quickly adapted to the experienced patrons near me. The staff here is also exceptionally kind as my wife mentioned it was my birthday and the chef presented me an extra piece of sushi with a candle. Turns out you can also let them know ahead of time and they’ll generously prepare a piece of birthday cake. All in all it was a great experience and a definite recommendation for sushi lovers and foodies alike.“
“This is the best! The premium menu was perfect; food was delicious and fresh, and the place is nice and spacious. The best of all was the staff though. They are super nice and helpful, and they are always around to help. Definitely will come back with my friends!!!“
“A tiniest place with the most fresh sushi!I guess my Mom and I got lucky to get a table. Every other person who came in after us got turned away because they had reservations. There is lots of people in and out either looking for a table or takeout. The staff were very nice and always available for your needs. The food was delicious and flavorful.Food came fast and very hot (temperature). I love my food very hot, so this made me very happy.Parking was a bit of a challenge. There are no spots on the main road. You can park on the side streets but will have to walk to the main road which isn’t far, but on a cold or wet day it might not be ideal for some.Parking: Parking was a bit of a challenge. There are no spots on the main road. “Went to Sushi Umi again for dinner last night. Phenomenal experience as the 1st time. Everything was very fresh and high quality. Appetizer, sashimi, sushi, temaki and dessert were all flavourful with a nice balance. Also ordered the a la carte of the waggu uni and foie gras sushi. The foie gras sushi was literally melted in my mouth. Very satisfied Omakase at Umi. Very attentive staff and professional chef. Keep up the good work Sushi Umi!!!“
“A friend of mine told me to stop at J San for some sushi. I have to admit the sushi combo 211 I ordered was really fresh. And I liked the seafood selection they have for sale, good stuff. Overall, all the tables and the washroom were clean. But there was a couple flies I believe from that Zz plant that were flying over my head and food constantly.Parking: Parking is across the street and 3 hours free for restaurant customers. Don't park on the street.“
“Every dish was fresh, and the sushi in particular was exceptionally flavorful. The staff were extremely friendly and showed great consideration for their customers. The atmosphere and quality of service were truly impressive. I highly recommend Kibo Sushi and would give it five stars without hesitation!“
“Went here for my grandpa's birthday, and it was quite the enjoyable experience. The service was done by Rei, and he was very generous and executed his job flawlessly. Easily some of the best sushi I've ever had. The barley tea that they serve is super concentrated in flavor, and I found myself drinking several cups worth. The tempura was very well battered, and my only disappointment was that my stomach isn't large enough to eat more. Would definitely come back here“
“Great value, lovely atmosphere & service, and most importantly, incredible food. The sushi was fresh and super flavourful, the takoyaki was one of the best I’ve ever had, the homemade gyoza & miso soup were dynamite. Will definitely be coming back!“
“Amazing food , amazing waitress , amazing atmosphere We have been here for the first time and definitely recommend this place.Everything was so tasty and the lady that attended us was super friendly ❤️❤️❤️Love it, love it, love it !!“
“Amazing sushi rolls and equally great service!! The owner took the time to walk us through the menu, suggesting a few of her personal favourites and making sure that we were happy with our selection. This is now our go-to place for sushi in Scarborough!“
“We ordered the oshi platter, tuna tataki sushi and jackpot. The food was delicious. Sushi tasted fresh! The tuna was melting in our mouths! Our server was nice and friendly. We had a great experience there. We'll definitely be back soon.Parking: You can park in the Canadian Tire parking lot.“
“Came here twice and I became a fan of their food.First time I got a Nama Salmon Don and it was delicious! Salmon was fresh with thick cut! The portion was just right.Second time I got their Wasabi Yaki Chicken Don as I want to try something hot. Tender juicy chicken and I will recorder next time.Customer service was great, friendly staff!I would recommend order ahead and pick up later to avoid any wait time.“
“My friend and I visited here for dinner. We ordered, miso soup, spring rolls, edamame, avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll & bambibap rice bowl.Quality - the food was good, especially the edamame, soup and 2 rolls.Price - decently priced compared to other sushi places in Richmond HillQuantity - the quantity was very good for the price pointService - amazing & fast service, they were super sweet & even got us free green tea ice-cream and roasted creamy potatoes. Helped us through our order too. The food is served very aesthetically.Good place to visit overall.“
“My husband and I have ordered take out and delivery from this place many times and have never been disappointed. We decided to dine in about a couple weeks ago and we were greatly pleased to have exceptional service from the moment we walked through the door. Service was amazingly, atmosphere and ambience was cozy and warm and most importantly food was fresh and delicious. They had many vegetarian options for myself, so it wasn’t a struggle deciding what to eat. Desserts were delicious as well. Kitchen staff were pleasant and the head chef/ owner was a friendly and polite individual who answered all of our questions without hesitation. You guys are amazing and take hospitality to another level. Amazing restaurant with amazing staff! ❤️“
“We went here for dinner last night and it was amazing. The quality of fish was excellent. We appreciate the attention to detail the restaurant adds to their dishes (fried garlic on sushi, please keep doing this…it’s very tasty!)Order for 2:- Sushi boat - comes with sashimi, sushi and rolls- Torched salmon was absolutely great way to end the mealCan’t wait to back here again. Staff is attentive and always greeting you with a smile! You can tell this place is a locals favourite, there were many walk ins and pickups while we we were dining in.“
“I don’t live near Shinobu, it sometimes take me an hour to get there to pick up. This is the best place for authentic Japanese Sushi in Toronto. Always consistent fair prices and made with love and pride. Its worth the drive.?❤️?yes its 2023?Shinobu is still just as good as ever?☀️and I’m sure 2024 will be as great as ever☀️❤️???Happy New Year ?“
“The food is good. Unfortunately they fry everything including tempura bits and vegetable tempura in the same oil they fry the pork katsu in. So muslim and vegeterian can't eat there unless they don't care. Just wondering why they don't have a seperate fryer for tempura bits and vegetables.Vegetarian options: Need to have separate oil for vegetarian dishes.Dietary restrictions: As a muslim it is not possible to eat there specially that they use same fryer for tempura bits and vegetable tempura for pork meat. This applies to muslim Jews and vegetarians unless some don't care.“
“This place has a lot of seatings and booth areas so you can have some privacy while dining. Extensive amount of food choices on the menu with decent prices. Ordered tempura vegetables and shrimp with 6 pieces total was only around $9. This tempura tasted truly delicious compared to other pricier restaurants! The whole staff greeted us the moment we came in with smile and felt their kindness/patience while we were looking through the menu. They were very accommodating with changing spicy salmon roll to dynamite roll in the dinner sushi sets for me since I don't eat spicy food. Other restaurants would always charge extra regardless if the price was the same or cheaper. The rice ratio for the rolls was PERFECT! Definitely the best one I've seen by far. I would love to try their signature rolls next time to see if they're the same. I would come here again for lunch and check them out. -1 star because: The sushi to rice ratio is a little too much so I had to take some off unfortunately. Also the salad that comes with the sets was bland, lettuce and 3 strings of beets.“
“Underrated excellent authentic Japanese ramen. My family enjoyed the accuracy of the flavours in their cuisine. We loved their spicy pork ramen, takoyaki, karaage, and many other dishes. The owner and staff are extremely polite and lovely. This is a hidden gem in Scarborough, so if you want the tastiest ramen, give it a try; you'll be hooked.“
“Honestly the best sushi places I’ve ever gone. I’m not much of a sushi lover, I go to the occasional Japanese restaurant and get maybe a couple of pieces but they never really fit my palette. Like places like Ichiban, or Sushi Moto, etc were never really interesting. But after discovering this absolute whole in the wall I can’t stop eating. As I’m writing this in the past 24 hours I’ve basically eaten half a platter of their sushi completely on my own. The staff are all amazing people always having an amazing time and really make you feel included and appreciated as a customer. I now go on an almost daily to weekly basis and always order the spicy or the creamy crab rolls exclusively but their huge platters are amazing for parties and gatherings. If you want amazing sushi and the fun and humour from a hibachi restaurant go to VIP sushi they’re cheaper and the experience is way betterDietary restrictions: They’re very accommodating always doing what they can to make sure I eat what I can and exclude everything I can’tKid-friendliness: The staff are always friendly and treat children with the utmost care always saying hi and waving and making them feel comfortable in the busy environment. Earlier today a customer had come in with their shh daughter and by the time the sushi was ready the little girl was sad to leave as all the staff had made such a fun environmentWheelchair accessibility: Door may not fit a wheelchair but they will walk out and hand you your order or do what they can to accommodate you the best they can“
“Great Omakase experience that does not require 24hr pre-book. You can just walk in and order Omakase course just like in Japan.Beside the main sushi course. Small side dishes are pretty impressive, for my own experience, this is important part to make the difference between Omakase restaurants.“
“The sushi was beautifully presented and what you would expect form a sushi spot. If you're craving sushi and you're nearby I would stop by! Bento boxes are also great. The place is a bit small so if you have a big group you should probably do take out. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that I felt like the service could have been a bit more attentive and the chairs are quite uncomfortable.“
“Decent place to satiate my craving for sushi rolls and ramen. Ramen prices are around $13.99 to $15.99, and I take advantage of the sushi rolls daily special for $9.99.Portion size is good and they add lots of toppings, and the broth is tasty.“
“The food was fresh and was served fairly quickly. The servers are friendly. The restaurant is very nicely set up (has booths which are cute!).Ordered: Spicy Maki Set (Cali, salmon and tuna), Tiger Eyes Roll (eel + dynamite), veggie tempura, edamame“
“High-quality sushi and high-quality service. The waiters and waitresses were all so attentive to us. Highly recommend if you're looking to experience quality dining experience ?Ps: First time trying Japanese plum wine, and it was delicious“
“Honestly, one of my favorite Japanese sushi restaurant-MIKI ^^, the quality of food are amazing every time I visiting, everyone is working as professional and very intensive,My portion of sashimi. rolls are always the freshest! ? worth the money,“
“The meal was great and priced very well too. Adam gave very good suggestions for our meal . My wife enjoyed the deep fried California roll. They had good sized shrimp tempura. Overall -wonderful experience. If definitely go back when I’m in Scarborough.Vegetarian options: Fair amount of vegetarian options. Deep fried tofu was very good.“
“Loved the sushi here, everything was really fresh and came quickly. Staff was very polite and kind. We got the Aburi sushi tray, Seared spicy mix, Seared ebi salmon, Hakata miso butter ramen with thick noodles and Chicken Karaage. Originally we thought it wouldn’t be enough but we had left overs. Portions were good, they even give us a cute mini bottle of soy sauce for our left overs. My favorite was the seared spicy mix, definitely want to try their sashimi trays next time. They also give complementary salad and ice cream. They do have a 1 and half hour seating limit for groups smaller than 4. Would definitely recommend making reservations before going.“
“Came here many times to get sliced sashimi but this was the first time we decided to dine in. We got the three ways of salmon don.In the bowl there was plain sashimi, a torched salmon and a diced marinated salmon. It also had a few green veggies, a piece of shrimp and a soft boiled egg.The salmon was very high quality. The torched salmon was extremely soft and had a melt in your mouth quality. I do not usually enjoy soft boiled eggs but this one was quite good and added a refreshing feel to the meal. I would highly recommend this dish!“
“We went to Sushi Real Fruit on a chily, sunny Saturday and it has since then been our go to Sushi place. The owners are very knowledgeable about Sushi and they're very helpful in getting you to choose the Sushi you're in the mood for. All the Sushi are created fresh and they're all bursting with flavour.Dietary restrictions: Halal. Soy Sauce doesn't have alcohol as per owner.“
“My first omakase experience. Chef Kazuki was very friendly and inviting. All his staff were pleasant and did not miss a beat in service. The 18 course Yuki menu was well prepared with a diverse selection. My favourite was the cherry trout and the optional order of uni. Highly recommend this unique experience.“
“Absolutely delicious sushi! From the fresh and flavorful fish to the perfectly seasoned rice, every bite at Akane Sushi is a delight. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the prices are reasonable. Our server, Mona, is extremely attentive and makes you feel so welcome. A must-visit for sushi lovers!“
“Feeling pretty stupid as I've lived in the area for a few years now but only tried this place today. Whenever I walk by it always seems pretty quiet, but with an experience like this I hope it gets more business! We ordered two of the sushi/sashimi dinner combos (B and C) and both were delicious. Generous portions of fish and it all tasted fresh. I think they even gave a few extra pieces of sashimi. The salad and soup were also both nice.Service was great. Everyone here is really friendly and nice.Atmosphere definitely catered to my tastes, which was classic rock music and they turned the hockey game on the TV ?. Will be back for sure! Also shares a name with one of the best anime characters ever ?“
“Torch Pressed Sushi is changing how I think about sushi! Their pressed style isn't just visually stunning, but the light char from the torch gives each piece this delightful smoky depth. Unique sauces and textures take it to another level. If you love sushi and want a new and exciting way to enjoy it, this is the place for you.“
“Great food and atmosphere!I ordered the Hwe Dup Bap, which was really good and had lots of fish. It came with rice and hot sauce on the side, so I was able to choose my own spice level. The menu stated that the dish came with miso soup and salad, but I was only given the soup. I asked the server, and she said that it didn't come with a salad, so there seems to be an error with the menu.Still, the food was great, and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're craving sushi!“
“FEB24 -Very sad about my sushi order today. The sushi tasted like soap. We ordered 3 rolls and one salmon sashimi. The sashimi was fine but all 3 rolls had a soap tinge to it. Almost like they put hand cream or there was soap residue in the rice/fillings of the roll. Super weird and off putting. We spent $40 on the sushi and ended up throwing it out since the taste was so strong. We love going here usually the quality of food and taste is pretty good, but today was not the case. We called the restaurant to let them know so hopefully it doesn’t happen again. They mentioned they put lemon in the rice but this definitely did not taste natural at all, very artificial and strange taste. we ordered it from Uber eats so still waiting to see if we can get refunded or not.EDITED- FEB25Editing my review to 5 stars. I received a call from the restaurant apologizing for the experience yesterday. They provided a re-do of the entire meal to make up for the experience and it tasted amazing. Not sure what happened yesterday, but seeing how the owner and staff took such great care of actually investigating and following up, shows that they truly care about their customer experience and takes feedback seriously. Things happen, and if they did not do anything it would have been very upsetting but because of this high level focus on customer experience I will definitely coming back again. Thank you for doing this and continuing to build trust with your customers.“
“Tonight was my second time dining here and so far both times were for my parents' birthday. This time I brought a cake and they graciously came out and sang happy birthday for my mom! I really appreciated this gesture as not many restaurants are willing to accommodate outside food which I completely understand. Needless to say, service is impeccable and warm at this restaurant. The food is a notch above any Japanese restaurant in the GTA. The tempura is simple but obviously well executed. We ordered a sashimi platter both times but tried other dishes too like the fried soft shell crab which was very delicate and easy to eat for people too lazy to crack a shell. It's a small restaurant so the food does take longer but I think the pace is more relaxed and suited to the atmosphere :) the price reflects the diversity of their ingredients and dishes as I don't think there are many places serving monkfish liver and deep fried crab alongside imported sashimi. Overall, highly recommend for a special occasion!“
“Whenever I’m in the area and I have time for a sit-down, I go here. I love sushi and I always get the best service here.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and even vegan options. Lots of healthy options as well.Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian and even vegan options. Lots of healthy options as well.Parking: There’s street parking, a parking lot and parking garage nearby.Kid-friendliness: You can definitely bring kids here.“
“Par excellence! The freshest, tastiest, most well presented Japanese seafood based dinner, bar- none! To start, the tempura was crispy outside, not oily, and the seafood tastey and the vegetables firm nor soggy. Wagu beef morsel literally melted on my tongue. The taste of the stuffed squid ring surprised me with a delicate taste that I had never experienced before. If it were light, it would be like seeing a new color never seen before. After this, my pallette was reset with a creamy tofu dish that had a hint of Wasabi. If the sashimi was any fresher, the fish would be swimming its way to the table. Such perfect flavourful and texture. What I thought was desert after so many succulent plates turned out to a cold, diced medley of flavored sashimi in champagne glass, topped with caviar and gold flakes. This exclusive Japanese restaurant is a must go to, at least once. It is expensive. For the private room, five-star personal servers, and of course the extraordinary food, it is well worth the experience.“
“Went for lunch around 1pm, there was no one in the restaurant except us. However, the waitress greeted us nicely and even told us we can sit at a bigger table. We ordered the bento boxes and they were AMAZING! For that price, the food was fresh and delicious! I definitely recommend anyone who wants Japanese cuisine in that area to give it a try!“
“I have always liked their sushi in the north. My favorite is J San Sushi. But in recent years, the packaging has become more and more low-key. Today, the takeout bag is just a white plastic bag... I was given two chopsticks and tissues, but I was only given one for a large box of sushi. The wasabi that was small enough to stick on chopsticks and the soy sauce that was only one-fifth of the box was not enough for one person... It is difficult for me to give a five-star review. The packaging is far from worthy of the price and is a bit petty.“
