From the moment we arrived, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, and the service was absolutely amazing throughout the entire evening. Everything felt so well thought out, and you could really tell that a lot of care goes into making sure every guest has a great experience.

We had the turbot and the foie gras, and both were incredible, but the foie gras was definitely the standout for us. It was beautifully presented and honestly SO delicious.

Thank you so much to everyone at Lucie for such a wonderful evening. We absolutely loved our experience and will definitely be back!“

“If you appreciate the absolute pinnacle of culinary precision, understated elegance & world-class hospitality, Alo is not merely a restaurant—it is a masterclass in modern fine dining. Discreetly tucked away on the top floor of a Victorian building at Spadina and Queen, stepping out of the elevator into this minimalist, polished space feels like entering a private, elevated sanctuary far above the noise of the city.

The atmosphere is effortlessly sophisticated: muted tones, warm ambient lighting & a seamlessly orchestrated front-of-house team that operates with quiet, surgical choreography. There is zero posturing here - just pure, unadulterated dedication to the craft.“

“Came here for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the overall experience. First off, I love that they take reservations — always a plus for brunch. It also wasn’t overwhelmingly busy for a Sunday, which made for a much more relaxed meal. The space is super cute and the service was decent.

We tried a few things. The eggs Benedict on a croissant was good, but honestly the breakfast potatoes were the highlight for me — so good and probably my favourite thing on the plate. One small thing: the tiny little jars they give you for ketchup and mayo are ridiculously small. You basically have to dump the whole thing out to get anything 😂.

The burger was tasty, although slightly dry, and the fries were good.

The French toast was another standout. The blueberry sauce was honestly one of the best I’ve had — really delicious. I wasn’t a huge fan of the whipped cream on top and wish the French toast itself had been served warm, because I think that would’ve made it significantly better.

Overall, nothing was perfect, but it was a really enjoyable brunch with cute vibes, good food, and some definite standouts. I’d come back, especially for those potatoes and that blueberry sauce.“

“Throughout the years, this is a go-to spot for us for inventive dishes, thought provoking wine pairings, and impeccably attentive service that amplifies the quality time with the people we are there with. It's maintained that high quality, foodie vibe, without losing its neighbourhood centric, best-kept-secret charm. How they did this while moving from Parkdale and overcoming a fire, I'll never know. Please go. Of note, they have always been incredibly detail-oriented and consistent with attending to my guy's anaphylactic dairy allergy. Spectacular, considering it's French cuisine origins. Still in my top 3 all-time tasting menu moments, and 2 of my all time most memorable dishes. Cheers, Chantecler - much love.“

“I occasionally order the blackened branzino to go and through various delivery apps when I’m too lazy to cook at home. Avant Gout has some great picks especially when you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for. The branzino is cooked to perfection, nice sauce on the base, roasted potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Interior of the restaurant is a little out dated however it doesn’t take away from the good food they serve.

I’ll continue joining them, as it’s consistent and healthy compared to other options out there. Little on the pricy side.“

“I LOVE Maison Selby. It is a family favourite ( and mine!) Since it opened Unfortunately we found it looking a little " tired" on our visit on Friday. The chairs needed repairing. The cane was broken The servers left the door open to the patio to ease their job. Unfortunately as it is late summer there were a number of bees and wasps in our section There was one man at the bar and two tables occupied on the terrace. My friend and I in the conservatory. Other than that it was very quiet. No specials were offered re food I don't believe that they do that anyway. Nor any on wines. We were celebrating two old ladies birthdays 72 and 81. No special mention was made of this I will return as I still love the place. It was disappointing though“

“Valeriia, I want to thank you for a perfect evening on May 2nd. You made it easy for me pre-event, in terms of your help with planning. You answered my questions as we went along and provided good advice. The event itself was a huge success. The staff were excellent in terms of knowing when to bring out food, when to pass it and when to place it on the buffet table. Staff kept the gluten free food separate which made it easy for guests to find it - you even placed the gluten free cards I had brought. Beverage service was professional and the wines Valeriia selected were enjoyed by all. I had one guest with some very specific dietary requirements and Chef made a small plate for her which was ready when she arrived which was very much appreciated. The guests commented on the quality of the food and staff. Several people said that they would now come back to Le Select for dinners. I would strongly recommend Le Select for events.“

Pictured are a Dirty Martini, Scallop Tartare (nice and zesty), Escargot and Mushroom Toast (delicious, but a filling appetizer), Hudson Valley Duck Breast (medium rare, and tender), and the Beef Bourguignon (it's a chunk of meat, not a stew). Only disappointment is that the Seared Scallops (not pictured) was a very small appetizer.

All in all, a great meal, and definitely going back again!“
