“Me and my family wanted to get some Greek food in Greektown, so we randomly walked into this restaurant. This is perfectly situated near the main square of greektown. Just as the same suggests everyone who worked here are so friendly and hospitable. Felt like we were invited for dinner at a greek family's house. The food was exceptionally good. I ordered the Gyro plate and my wife ordered the chicken souvlaki plate. We also got some fried calamari for starter. Would definitely come back here again.“

“I can’t say enough good things about Mr. Souvlaki. From the staff to the freshness and quality of the food—everything is superb.

The staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate small requests or substitutions, which really makes a difference. The owner, Guy, is especially amazing. He genuinely knows his customers and even greets them in their own language. I’m Filipino, and he always says “salamat” (thank you) and “kamusta” (how are you), which is such a thoughtful touch. You can tell people love him, and it really shows the strong relationships he builds with his customers.

The portions are always generous, and you definitely get great value for your money.

One experience that really stood out to me was when I walked in after they had already closed, hoping there might still be something left for dinner. Everything was cleaned up and put away, but instead of turning me away, he asked what I wanted and told me to give him five minutes. I thought he’d just put together something simple like a salad with chicken—but he actually prepared a full souvlaki dinner plate for me. (Look at the presentation)

He handed me the foo and , I realized the register was already closed and I only had Apple Pay. Without hesitation, he told me not to worry about it. I was honestly shocked. I had every intention of tipping him well for going above and beyond, but instead, I ended up receiving the meal for free. I told him I’d make sure to pay him back next time, and he just smiled and said, “Salamat.”

That level of kindness and generosity is rare. This place isn’t just about great food—it’s about genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!“

“One of my favourite restaurants in the city. I grew up in the area and even worked here for some time in my youth, and even tho the ownership changes hand occasionally, it's comforting being able to come back even decades later and enjoy the same recipes and flavours, untouched, that originally put this place on the map! “I have been to many greek restaurants in Toronto, but none are like Salonika restaurant. The flavours were true to northern Greece, and the hosts offered authentic, warm hospitality, a slice of home where you could hear greek spoken in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious, we ordered many small dishes and had meze style dinner, and they delivered some of the best food we've had in the city. The melitzanosalata (eggplant salad) and tzatziki were absolute bangers, fresh and light. They also brought us pita bread and some crispy toasted greek bread coated with olive oil and herbs (ladoriganh). The fried calamari is the best in town in my experience, thin crispy rings, well seasoned and they felt light which means they were cooked to perfection. My personal favourite was the keftedakia, I cant believe how much it reminded me of home. I have no words, they were perfect. To top it all off, the karithopita was a perfect dessert to follow our dinner. Overall, I recommend Salonika to everyone who would a taste of Greece or just want good food and a warm, special experience in the heart of the Danfort“

“This is an exceptional pork gyro. Filled generously with fresh tasty ingredients, and assembled with confidence (I wasn’t sure this would all get wrapped up - let alone consumed!).

Everything was better than expected, including the quality fries, the crispy juicy pork shaved right off the spit, and the special sauce.
