“Me and my family wanted to get some Greek food in Greektown, so we randomly walked into this restaurant. This is perfectly situated near the main square of greektown. Just as the same suggests everyone who worked here are so friendly and hospitable. Felt like we were invited for dinner at a greek family's house. The food was exceptionally good. I ordered the Gyro plate and my wife ordered the chicken souvlaki plate. We also got some fried calamari for starter. Would definitely come back here again.“

A giant slab of pork shank is the protein hit I need after walking to this restaurant. A deep, colourful sear brings a delicious Maillard flavour that coats moist and tender meat fibres. The roasted potatoes also get the same treatment and will make you appreciate the invention of grilling.“

Mr. Greek is good, but Danny Greek Grill Express is incredible and the portions are so generous, the staff are wonderful and so pleasant to deal with and extremely hospitable. They make you feel welcome the minute you walk into the restaurant.

“I have been to many greek restaurants in Toronto, but none are like Salonika restaurant. The flavours were true to northern Greece, and the hosts offered authentic, warm hospitality, a slice of home where you could hear greek spoken in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious, we ordered many small dishes and had meze style dinner, and they delivered some of the best food we've had in the city. The melitzanosalata (eggplant salad) and tzatziki were absolute bangers, fresh and light. They also brought us pita bread and some crispy toasted greek bread coated with olive oil and herbs (ladoriganh). The fried calamari is the best in town in my experience, thin crispy rings, well seasoned and they felt light which means they were cooked to perfection. My personal favourite was the keftedakia, I cant believe how much it reminded me of home. I have no words, they were perfect. To top it all off, the karithopita was a perfect dessert to follow our dinner. Overall, I recommend Salonika to everyone who would a taste of Greece or just want good food and a warm, special experience in the heart of the Danfort“

“I really wanted to like this place. But the experience was not authentic Greek. The Greek fries was not well executed - suggest olive oil and Greek oregano on top of the cheese and placing under broiler simply burns the cheese since feta doesn’t melt like hard cheeses. The pork souvlaki meat chunks were massive and not traditional cut (neck and shoulder) so missing some fattiness. There was no sear, could have been over baked, or maybe low temp grill. The chicken gyro meat was good but the sandwich (in pita) was not well executed. I gave 4 stars to better align with experience for a non-Greek customer.“
