“We happened upon this awesome restaurant coming out of landsdown subway station and I'm so happy we did! The atmosphere was great, inviting and serene. The service was top notch, super friendly and we felt welcomed immediately! Very clean and authenticly decorated. Our waitress was amazing and even asked if we required cutlery ( which we declined) however it was thoughtful of her to ask. We ordered the meat platter for 2 and it came out in a great presentation and was huge! The different recipes were spiced perfectly and absolutely delicious. The price was amazing! There is also a dessert shop with various authentic desserts which we ordered to go as we were very full from the one platter. I wished we lived closer so we could go there more often but we will be making specific trips just to go back. Absolutely loved it!!“

“A foodie friend told me I had to try Ethiopian food here, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Wazema is an absolute gem in East York that every foodie in the GTA needs to visit.

We ordered the Wazema Platter (for 2) and the Zigini Wot, paired with mango juice. Every single item on the platter was tremendous. Honestly, some of the veggie items on the platter tasted even better than their Indian counterparts!

The restaurant itself is cozy, intimate, and seats about 30 people. It's located in one of the busiest spots on the Danforth, but we managed to find street parking easily. To top it off, the staff was incredibly helpful with all of our questions and special requests.

“I’ve tried many Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto. This one is great! I especially love that they have a clear vegan section. I ordered the vegan combo - my fave was the yellow split peas and the shiro. I wasn’t a huge fan of the reddish lentils as they were very spicy, and the collard greens wasn’t really my thing. I’d come back though and ask if I could get more shiro or split peas instead! Updated from previous review on 2026-09-09“

“I was surprised to find great Ethiopian food near me. The lady running the stall was so nice. I just asked if they had a combo, and this is what she gave me. Four veggie dishes, all super flavorful. Also a TON of injera, I have a big appetite, and I couldn't finish it! Please go support them!“

“The only restaurant in town feels like home food making. 100% recommended Note : waiting time around 30 min because they cook everything fresh if you are in rush call them before you go they will make it ready for you either dine-in or takeout.“

“I am from the Rio Grande Valley Texas and generally try to go to an Ethiopian restaurant when visiting big cities. I thought the food was very tasty. I got the meat plate. The ambiance was small and cozy, giving me the feel of someone's home. The owner was very nice and made sure I was comfortable and she talked with me as if I was visiting her home. “Just right and amazing . The vibe here is great. The place is not too extravagant nor subpar to the bar standards. Above all else, the price is reasonable. Ask for Sam Kate, she is just a great attender and employee. This lounge has a band playing on certain days and times. In addition, the establishment offers good deals on food and nourishment from their kitchen before 11pm . Try it out. Enjoy your time and leave happy.“

“Ordered via uber and was blown away by this food. Tried grilled tuna, fufu, plum nut sauce with goat. Never tried this cuisine before so I was taking a chance this weekend.

I had no idea West African food is so tasty and flavourful!!!!

“Nice spot on the Danforth if you want a light lunch. There’s a small patio. Cafeteria style. We ordered a BLT and a grilled sandwich - black forest ham and Swiss cheese. They were both tasty but a little on the expensive side for simple sandwiches. The food was good so we’ll visit again and definitely recommend to others.“
