“This place is a great neighbourhood spot. Food and vibes are perfect. I personally enjoyed the bar seating over the sit down, better vibe. Staff is very hospitable and service is always excellent. You can tell they put a lot of effort into making you feel at home.“

“Hanmoto offers a unique izakaya-style dining experience designed for sharing, with an ambiance that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped into a lively street market. The menu features both a raw and hot bar, and some of my favorites were the eggplant, the Dyno Wings, and the unforgettable miso ice cream. The 2000s music perfectly complemented the energetic vibe of the place. I was lucky enough to seat in the table facing the kitchen where you can see the chief doing his magic, highly recommended.“

“It was our first time been there and it was absolutely amazing. We ordered a lot of different types sushi 🍣, and the skewers were very good and service was outstanding & fast. and we had mochi ice cream for dessert. Everything went well. And I'd come back for sure.“

“We had a lovely early dinner on the nice sunny patio at Yuugi Izakaya on Baldwin St. The vibe is casual and welcoming, perfect for people-watching in the area.

The Ginza Blue cocktail was excellent — refreshing, beautiful color, and hit the spot. The Maguro Tataki was fresh and nicely seared, the Chicken Nanban Karaage was crispy and delicious, and everything came out quickly.

The only downsides were that the Hotate Wasabi was way too salty, and the Saba Yakimeshi (fried rice) could have used less salt as well. The rest of the meal was solid though.

“We had such a great experience at this izakaya. The food was absolutely delicious everything felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The beef tartare was especially memorable: light, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The karaage was another standout—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned just right.

Service struck that perfect balance—not overbearing, but still attentive and timely, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.

The only small downside was that it was a bit on the darker side, making it a little hard to see at times.

Overall, a fantastic spot and we’ll definitely be back!“

“Everything was so delicious!

MUST TRY: the monkfish liver, any of their udon dishes and the old Korean-style Whole Fried Chicken.

Parking is a bit tricky. We parked at the back as some businesses were closed during the weekends so we parked there, but I would be careful during working business hours.“

“What a vibe. I ordered on Uber Eats more than a couple times before actually coming here to eat. They deserve more stars, there skewers and mackerel are so gas, and honestly it’s such a vibe, their decorations are so cute and makes me feel like i’m in Japan. They’re also all Japanese people and super nice, 100% deserve 5 stars and more.“

“Hands down one of my favorite Japanese spots! I’ve been coming here for almost 5 years now, and the quality has honestly stayed amazing every single time.
My absolute favorites are the Salmon Donburi Bowl, the oysters, the short rib. everything is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
And a special shoutout to Lin for always being so sweet, welcoming, and attentive. She’s honestly one of the reasons I finally decided to leave a review! She always makes the whole experience feel warm and comfortable.
Amazing food, amazing service, and such a nice vibe every time. Definitely one of my forever favorite spots.“
