Gonzo Izakaya 根性 is a great neighbourhood spot with perfect food and vibes. The staff is very hospitable, and service is always excellent; they put a lot of effort into making guests feel at home. The food and atmosphere are second to none. The crispy cabbage is a sure must have dish, and the cabbage was perfection. The tofu was lovely, and the pork belly was fantastic. There are so many great chicken options and a nice range of small accompanying dishes. The food is affordable and very very tasty. Don’t forget to try the shishito peppers. There is a great happy hour and an authentic Asahi beer machine to make micro foam. Guests recommend sitting at the bar for the authentic Izakaya experience. It will get busy later on in the night, so recommend coming early or booking a reservation.
