I really wanted to love this place because the ambiance was 10/10, the food for the most part was delicious, and our server was very sweet and attentive.We came as a party of 7 and we all ordered the Yakitori set. One of skewers in the set was a chicken meatball of some sort. One of us noticed that the texture of the skewer felt off but by the time we had realized that the skewer was raw in the middle, 2 of us had already finished it and a few of us had taken a couple bites out of it. We had to ask the server to take it back to check if it was raw, which she confirmed with the kitchen it was. They took back all our skewers immediately because of potential cross contamination, which is good. However when they came back with replacements, they had only replaced the meatball ones and given us 1 plate of the Yakitori set. However some of us had other skewers we were still working on so we ended up with less skewers than what was originally taken.We’re just disappointed about how the raw chicken situation was handled. Some of us could have gotten really sick. We appreciate that those skewers were replaced immediately but we received less skewers than we originally ordered.Again, we have no complaints about our server, she handled everything very professionally. We don’t expect any discounts or special treatment. This review is just to remind the restaurant to be careful of keeping up with food safety standards.

I adore Gonzo Izakaya. Fantastic atmosphere, kind staff, great food. I come as often as I can. Everything in the menu is delicious. Can't choose wrong. Sign says to wait behind curtain. Yet they are too busy to acknowledge people waiting there. Super awkward. Poked our heads in a few times. Waited patiently for about 10 minutes and, nothing so we left.
