“We had such a wonderful dining experience at Pickle Barrel! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The soup of the day (Butternut Squash) was warm, comforting, and full of flavor. The calamari was crispy and tender, and the NY striploin was juicy, perfectly cooked, and so flavorful. The lobster and shrimp linguine was another favorite — creamy, rich, and loaded with delicious seafood. Every dish was satisfying and beautifully prepared.

A special shoutout to Ate Leny for her excellent service! She was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel well taken care of throughout our meal. Her wonderful service made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

“Hip Asian fusion place. Travelled into Toronto for business and an old high school buddy and I met up there. Took an Uber from downtown at 6:30pm which was close to $30 and traffic was really bad. After our get together he drove me back and then no traffics by around 9pm.“

“honestly, 10/10!! everything we ordered was BOMB. my boyfriend and i went tonight and shared a bunch of dishes: the spicy tuna poke, nome fried chicken with sweet chili sauce, grilled short rib, tuna coin roll, bulgogi tacos, and japa burgers. every single thing was delicious, but the grilled short rib was definitely my favourite!! the sauce was UNREAL, and the meat was so tender and easy to eat right off the bone.

we ordered quite a bit of food, but everything was so tasty, and the portions were great for the price. very reasonably priced considering how much food you get! i also tried the passion fruit mojito, which was super fresh and light. you could barely taste the alcohol, which i personally loved!

our server, raymond, was also fantastic! he was very friendly, provided great recommendations, was quick with service, and consistently checked in on us throughout the meal. we sat upstairs, which had a really cozy atmosphere. the only small downside was the bathroom being right in front of some of the tables haha!

overall, we absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. we’ll be recommending it to everyone. amazing food, great portions, reasonable prices, and excellent service. also, make a reservation as it got busy once we were leaving. can’t wait to come back!!“

“First visit to Wood Owl. The food was very tasty, particularly the pork chop and the pasta special. The smoked trout dip with chips is a great starter to share over a drink or glass of wine.

We found the service friendly and attentive. It’s a small space, so I would recommend making reservations. Regarding their two-hour policy - many smaller restaurants have this policy for two people. Our server Mays was knowledgeable, entertaining and prompt while servicing our table inside and tables outside. The manager, Ishaan checked on us frequently making us feel at home. When you consider the amount of courses and wine the price point was more than reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant. Paella for the win!“

“Drink was awesome. I had the maple miso latte and it was interesting. Imo the waffle is a bit dry to finish. A bit more sauces to go with the fried chicken might be ideal.

The space is small so expect a wait time especially during the weekend.“

“Overall a very nice dining experience! Everything we ordered was delicious and a good portion for two people to share. It was a little chilly and we were sitting on the patio, but the heaters kept it comfortable and the atmosphere was relaxed. The menu is a little unvaried so some specials would have been welcome.
The thing that will probably prevent me from coming back is the $100 no-show fee for reservations. I understand having a fee, but $100?! That’s extremely punitive given that there are 1000 legitimate reasons somewhat might need to cancel a reservation last minute - especially if they have young kids, as I do. I may try walking in if the opportunity comes up, but I don’t think I’ll make a reservation again.“

“Cheap and cheerful food before the Leaf game. Cheapest beer in the Dwtn core. It is not cozy at all, being at the back of a grocery store, but close to many places to grab a beer and not have to pay an arm and a leg. It was not too busy so, might be a hidden gem for a while.“

“I was there on a Saturday night with 5 friends. We were all 70 years old or older. We all sat in a roomy corner booth.

The service was efficient but never fawning.

The food was extraordinary. The portions were very generous. More importantly, all the food tasted great. (We had six different dishes.) Interestingly, we all agreed that not only was the food served very hot, but it also stayed hot. I suspect the serving bowls were heated, but the extreme width of the bowl rims didn’t absorb that heat, so that you could touch them

I ordered the tomato-based seafood risotto. In other restaurants, the risotto came with one shrimp, one scallop and a couple of mussels. My order was infused with plenty of shellfish.

The place is full of young ones: 25-40 years old. So the environment was positive and electric. It might have been the location and nature of our seating area, but we could easily hold conversations“

“I was just at Zakkushi on Carlton, terrible service there！！！made me leave before even eating. I came next door to Kintaro, I’m so glad I did. The food here is much better, the flavors are balanced (unlike Zakkushi, which was way too salty), and the service was genuinely friendly and welcoming. This place beats Zakkushi in every way. Highly recommend Kintaro—skip Zakkushi and come here instead.“

“Not a bad note at any time. Monica is a very good server who is knowledgeable, engaging but not smothering. There when needed. The food is inventive and so tasty. Small bites. Two of us ordered five dishes and loved them all. The sommelier, Tessa, makes an amazing Arancello (better than Limoncello)! Her wine list is interesting and extensive, covering most types and regions, but we would have liked more bottles from Ontario, although the ones provided are all really good. We shall be back.“

“Always come here every wednesday for their BOGO deal for yuugi torched salmon sushi! Their service is great and they always treat us nicely every time we come. On sundays, they also have omurice which is always a treat, definitely recommend trying that if you’re hungry! If its not a sunday, the omurice poutine is good too. The karage is very normal, my friends really like the house sauce!“

“Learned about this place from Too Good To Go app and decided to come here for lunch with a friend. It is a little hard to spot since it is hidden in a small street. We heard this place just open a month ago, so might explain why the place wasn't too busy. Good for us, since we could sit by the cozy lounge area. I got the Avocado Toast, and my friend the Mediterranean Cauliflower. The Toast was super balanced and beautiful (and so much avocado!). The Cauliflower had a lot of components and was very filling. We both agreed the food was 10/10. if you coming for Cocktail, would recommend the Amethyst and the Carribean Sour!“

“I can’t say enough about our stay. I came to Toronto for surgery and had anxiety about the stay. They reached out to me numerous times to make sure I had a smooth stay. They even accommodated another night on short notice due to some complications that I had. Taylor, Nisha, Luis and everyone we came in contact with were stars in my books. They went above and beyond for my stay and I can’t thank them enough. Also the basket of bath products with a thoughtful letter was just lovely and blew me away.
