“Our favourite Nigerian cuisine by far! The way the food here tastes in comparison to other restaurants is on a much higher quality level. The cooks are on point, and have been working there for years. The owner, Funmi is extremely friendly and caring.Highly recommend the egussi soup, pounded yam, and goat meat or assorted meat. Their jollof rice is also extremely tasty and we enjoy the beans as well.“
“I moved into this neighbourhood around October 2020 and had to figure out all the good places to eat around here. I stumbled upon Taste and See on Ubereats and decided to give the egusi with pounded yam a try. It was my first time trying egusi, and wow the flavours are just out of this world. It's spicy, with a little bit of nuttiness from the grounded up melon seeds, and the meat and spices all marry eachother. Don't forget to scoop up the stew with pounded yam! I was surprised there weren't any yelp reviews on it, everyone deserves to try it out.“
“I took a quick trip to Oyato African food market to bulk up on African black soap, on my way out I seen ola there door advertised fresh restaurant and catered food. I went in and was greeted by two sweet elders aunty & auncle and they gently gave me the menu I seen all the great tasty fire dishes but I had to keep it humble with my diabetes. So I just ordered the cheapest thing on the menu mashed beans . They looked at me like that’s it! I laughed like “yeah I have my green banana at home to Dip” ! They were like okay I waited no more than 10 minutes cause it’s a pretty simple dish.some nice west African gospel was playing on the flatscreen I would say I got a nice homey vibes were your welcomed to eat ! And that’s what I love comfortable and calm I kindly asked the chef if she could add a water and ginger ale to my meal. And it came up to $15.00 they only had visa debit at the moment not credit card.Id say it’s worth the price I even had left overs for a day which I liked cause it tasted alot better. I recommend sitting in if you’re used to traditional settings and need a good quick tasty meal or ordering take out or delivery.“
“Just ordered braised greens and Mafi stew with chicken!y mouth is LOVING the flavours. Absolutely delicious! The portions come with rice and I have enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. I got some absolutely delicious plantains complimentary as well! I'll definitely order again over and over - it's that good!“
“Now, I’m a newbie to African cuisine. I’ve tried a number of restaurants within greater Toronto and I must say Benin Restaurant is in a class of its own.The red stew….. Is mouthwatering!!!The meat or protein is made to your desired tenderness.Thank you for sharing a taste of Nigeria here in Canada with us!!!!“
“I have been coming to this establishment for over 7 years and one thing I have to say the service has to be the worst I have ever seen. The customer service especially the boy at the front very rude and careless. He said he will call the police if I eat inside cause I was extremely hungry and the manager felt to big to come out and have a discussion with me very rude set of people“
“Food was really good. I've never had egusi or pounded yam but it was great first experience and the spice level was perfect. I added the peppered beef to my egusi for an additional $19 which had good flavour but maybe wasn't as tender as I thought it would be. Slightly pricy but is super filling and tasty. The service was good as well, I believe she said her name is Sandy (server name on the ticket says Sasilka) who was very friendly.“
“Absolutely blown away by the incredible flavors and warm hospitality at the African restaurant! Each dish was a delightful journey of spices and textures that truly showcased the rich culinary heritage of the continent. Can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to experience authentic African cuisine.“
“Food is flavourful and consistent. I’ve been purchasing food from here since 2018 and it’s been the same. Don’t watch the bad comments on google who either have their own preference or just hating. Best Ghanaian food in Toronto, hands down!?“
