Took too much time to give order

Golden Star is an absolute gem for Chinese-Guyanese food! The portions are incredibly generous — perfect for sharing or taking home leftovers. Everything we tried was flavorful and freshly made, but the fried shrimp dish really stood out — perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned just right. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, even during busy hours. Definitely a spot worth returning to when you’re craving hearty, satisfying comfort food.

Words can’t describe how much I enjoyed the food there! I highly recommend the pepper shrimp. Easily would say the best shrimp I’ve ever had. Service was fast. Very kind staff. Recommend this Jem

Been coming here for over 10 years and the food has always been amazing. Be sure to order the deep fried shrimp with spicy sauce.

Fantastic food for a very pocket friendly price! Service is excellent. I always enjoy eating here with family & friends. Takeout is also great as they have an array of food to choose from. I would recommend the Seafood fried Rice. They have a generous portion of lobster with a superb dip! Great location too, parking is always available.

Don't order here! Asked for the special with mixed chicken, shrimp and BBQ. Literally got one shrimp, one sorry piece of looking BBQ pork and not even a whole leg quarter. Never again. All they cater to are the ones buying alcohol and playing games. I ate through a bit to see if there was more, but no.

I read the reviews after and I saw a few that said there was a fishy taste - unfortunately I also experienced this. The rice I was unable to eat because the taste was so strong. I wonder if this is because of shrimp or other that has gone bad - I hope not. The noodles seemed undercooked, and the breaded shrimp was not crispy and a bit soft. I spent almost $50 and could only eat a spring roll, a few breaded shrimp, and a few bites of the noodles before I couldn’t stomach more. The serving size was good, but the only good tasting item was the broccoli which is why I’m giving two stars. Additionally, the front desk person seemed impatient with questions and not very welcoming, and their fish tank is way too small for the size and number of fish which is cruel. Overall very disappointing for my first, and last time coming. I think there is room for improvement and potential and the inside of the restaurant was nice. But I wish I believed the reviews before I came and chose another place for Chinese in the area.

The Beef with Mushrooms was very good . Although it was more like beef with mixed vegetables , because it have broccoli, bok choy , green peppers, zucchini, and onions. The chicken in the ruff was good , but the friend rice was a little plain plus they but in frozen mixed veggies instead or bora . They also made home style hot sauce , that was good . I would definitely go back for lo mien . There was a service charge of 10 % on our dine in bill.

I wanted to like this place, but I’m sorry to say I had a negative first impression. The beef and broccoli completely put me off. There were about five shavings of beef in the dish and it had a very strong fish taste… I don’t know why. We had to throw it out. The general tao chicken was okay, but overall I think I’ll be looking for another place next time.
