As a California transplant, I’ve been looking for good Mexican food since I moved to Toronto. I’m so happy I found Gorditas! I usually default to steak but when the owner said the carnitas was their best seller, I knew I had to try it. Hoooolllyyyy… it was the best carnitas I’ve ever had! And the chicharron gordita was amazing too! I’m literally looking at their menu again tonight thinking when I can go back. Yup, it’s that good.
Edit: Just when I thought they can’t get any better, I saw on their Instagram that they DON’T USE SEED OILS! Wooohoooo!

We came to Gorditas to get tacos as take out since we had heard great things about this place. The food did not disappoint! I got the carnitas (pork), and my partner got the bistec (beef) so we could try different items on the menu. The tacos were very filling, and the carnitas in particular were super juicy. They give you the spicy sauce on the side so you can dress them with as much spice as you'd like. We appreciate that and definitely plan to return to try more of their menu items.
Excellent little hidden gem. Amazingly good food. I stopped with my family during our trip to Toronto and will surely come back whenever we are in the vicinity.
